Continuing with the topic of how to play rimshots and crossticks separately or how to get a 3 zone snare with a 2 zone pad, here is one stock snare with a velocity switch, try it and let me know if it works with your 2 zone pad, you should get a crosstick sound at lower velocities and a rimshot sound at higher velocities.

From http://2box-drums.com/support/

OS 1.34.10 Jan 10 2020
This OS is compatible with DrumIt5 and DrumIt Three.
* If a Hihat Calibration  is performed the new calibration can now be saved in the UNIT file (Press UNIT-SAVE?).
* Fixed the issue with hihat opening value on kit change - now the opening value remains the same as stored in a KIT. (Finally!!!!)
* Added auto-set of decay value to "INF" in case a loop sound is selected for a channel.
* Cymbal choke is now active when a "HOLD" value is activated.
* A Crosstalk ( XTLK ) feature is added for Tom and Snare Channels to minimize crosstalk between Head and Rim.

It will allow importing 100 multilayered samples (wav). Interesting, even if the limit is 4GB for user samples it would be enough for a couple of SD3 Kits.

"User Sample Import
100 Wave or 100 Multi layerd full instruments (Head/Rim/X-Stick - Bell/Bow/Edge)
Length: 320 Mono, 160 Stereo
File Format: WAV (44.1 kHz, 16/24 bit)
USB/internal Memory"

You want to do some covers for youtube but your audio is out of sync and aligning it with a software is tedious and expensive? well, if you have an iphone or ipad you can record quickly directly audio and video in the youtube app using the following stuff:

1- USB Audio interface compatible with ipad (and iphone): I use the roland Rubix22, it's around 60 bucks used or 100 new. There is also the Steinberg UR22 MK2 for roughly the same price. There are cheaper ones but the 2 above have MIDI IN/OUT Ports, which is useful if you want to record MIDI as well. Also note these have only 2 Inputs, so you only be able to record your 2box and whatever you have plugged in your aux in, for instance your phone or mp3 player if you record with an ipad. If you want to record your voice as well then you'll need an interface with 4 inputs and a microphone.

2. Apple Camera Kit USB kit, this goes between your ipad/phone and the audio interface

3. 5V Power adapter with mini usb cable for the audio interface, since the ipad/iphone wont provide enough power to the Audio interface, I use the same iphone charger with a mini usb cable and it works perfectly.

With this you'll be able to record audio and video with decent quality, the downside is that the youtube app won't allow you to add anything like text or other things, you will only be able to trim the video and that's it. However If you want to edit the video afterwards to add text or explanations you can use the built in app "clips" and export the video to imovie and edit it there.

So that's it, record quickly and decently without a computer.

So you want to record your 2box but you're broke and can't afford an RME Babyface audio interface? Don't worry, you can get this cable for 15 bucks and plug the right and left to your 1-2 outs and the usb to your computer, install free asio drivers and the free software audacity, hit record and there you go, you'd found the cheapest way to record your playing without spending more than you have already (providing you have a computer already)

I remember 8 years ago when I got my first drumit 5 module, I had a beautiful Roland set with the pd-x pads and was so dissapointed that it was not possible to use them with the module, the rim-head separation wasn't there and ended up selling the roland pads and bought the 2box pads.

Now, 8 years after I just cannot say how satisfied I am with the drumit 3 and its compatibility with the roland pd-108, 128 series which have a much hotter rim hahaha, the LXTR is just magic and now I have clean separation between head and rim, trigger a loop on the rim and don't be afraid to trigger a spock cymbal assigned to the head. Works on the snare and toms, and even if you can't get it right on the toms it doesn't matter since you are going to split the input to use another cymbal or pad.

Huge selling point for 2box, I just wish they were more aggressive in the market, specially in the US, nobody knows them there...

I just discovered this guys: Gear Drum, they are from Italy and make triggers for pads and cymbals, they look nice, specially those triggered low volume cymbals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbrPjZ9f79Y

After 2 weeks of owning the module I was wondering if the admin can add a drumit 3 Subsection to the forum?
That way we can keep both modules discussions separated.

So, I'm recording some midi from my drumit 3 into logic but when I see the notes in Logic they are completely different from the notes set in the module! For instance, the kick, which is set to C2 in the module, is being recorded as C1!! The Snare is F2 in the module but it show E2 in logic!
I didnt transpose anything in logic.
Also, dragging a midi groove from SD3 to trigger the internal sounds of the module trigger the wrong notes of course....
It's just baffling....

e-drum DIY / modifications / Drumit 3 SD Card Mod
March 08, 2018, 01:12:57 PM
I just opened my drumit 3 module following the same method as for the drumit 5, all was going good until I see the board is attached now to the top lid, and, bad news, the display seems to be glued to the plate! So if you lift the board it will damage the display!

link to pictures:
https://1drv.ms/a/s!Apbbfhss1Va_gaUG8--Y6X2wrpstoA

You will see the SD Card is the same as the one in the drumit5.

So it seems this time 2box wont allow the sd card mod, we're screwed...

As expensive as the drum-tec, but with better cymbals than roland, maybe a good pairing with the upcomig drumit 3?

Coming on the 12th of September. 230GB library samples, 5 times more as SD2, completely independent from SD2, it seems like a huge EZdrummer 2.
http://blog.timespace.com/2017/08/toontrack-superior-drummer-3-faqs/
"Toontrack have done it again.

Almost 10 years ago, Toontrack released the now legendary Superior Drummer 2 which revolutionized the drum software market and quickly became an industry standard. Superior Drummer 3, available worldwide on September 12th, has been completely redesigned from the ground up and includes a host of innovative new features to take your virtual drumming experience to a whole new level.

We imagine you have lot’s of questions and hopefully you’ll find some answers below;

What is new in SD3?

Superior Drummer 3 introduces a huge list of new features but here are some highlights for you;

New and improved workflow
Core sound library of over 230 GB, that’s ten times more than Superior Drummer 2
xx number of kits
An additional eleven room microphones are included set up in a surround configuration
Drum audio to MIDI conversion
35 SD3 mixer effects
Scalable interface
Detachable windows
Extensive MIDI library
Pool of electronic drum sounds
Are Superior 2 and Superior 3 different instruments/products?

Yes. SD3 is a completely new software engine so when you install SD3 it will not remove or replace SD2, both will exist on your computer independently of each-other.

I already own Superior 2, is there an upgrade to Superior Drummer 3?

Yes. As a registered Superior Drummer 2 user you save 50% on Superior Drummer 3. You can pre-order the Superior Drummer 3 upgrade now via the Time+Space website.

What if I recently bought Superior Drummer 2? Do I have to pay the full upgrade price?

Yes. There is no cheaper upgrade price depending on when you purchased Superior Drummer 2, it’s the same for everyone.

How is the Superior Drummer upgrade delivered?

The upgrade will be delivered as a serial number via e-mail from September 12th. You will then be able to register and then download the software and SD3 content using the Toontrack Product Manager. If downloading the 230 GB of SD3 content is a problem then you can also purchase the core sound library pre-installed on a solid-state drive (SSD) here.

I currently own EZdrummer 2, is there a crossgrade option to Superior Drummer 3?

Yes. Registered EZdrummer 2 users qualify for a 25% discount on Superior Drummer 3. As with the upgrade, the crossgrade will be delivered as a serial number via e-mail from September 12th.

You can pre-order the Superior Drummer 3 crossgrade now via the Time+Space website.

Will the full Superior Drummer 3 be available as a download or on a hard drive?

Superior Drummer 3 will be available to download on September 12th. You can also pre-order the 230 GB core sound library pre-installed on a solid-state drive (SSD) and expect to ship these out for delivery before September 12th.

What are the minimum system requirements for Superior Drummer 3?

TBC

How big is Superior Drummer 3?

The SD3 core sound library is just over 230 GB.

Do I have to download it all at once?

No. The SD3 core sound library download will be split into five parts, each around 50 GB in size which can be downloaded separately using the Toontrack Product Manager after registration. The first part represents a ‘Lite’ installation which can be used without downloading the other four parts. You can download the additional parts in the future at your leisure.

My download speed is slow, what other options do I have to get Superior Drummer 3?

If downloading the SD3 core sound library is a problem for any reason then we would recommend purchasing the core sound library on a solid-state drive (SSD) which can be pre-ordered here.

If I pre-order Superior Drummer 3 when will I receive it? (respond with info on serial and SSD).

If you pre-order SD3 today, your serial number will be delivered via e-mail on September 12th.

I already have some SDX expansions, will they work in Superior Drummer 3?

Yes, once you have downloaded the free SDX updates which add SD3 compatibility which will also be available on September 12th, your SDXs will not only work but include GUI enhancements."
