I made a list of all the SDX sizes I own already converted for the 2box. So you can calculate the SD card size and number you need.

you bought a "new" one? where?
For the rebound, is the mesh head too tight? try to reduce the tension, it should be less tight than the other drums.

Yeah, install OS sounds complicated, I remember when I updated a roland td-12 firmware, you needed a midi interface and dump the thing with a laptop and almost do twirls while you prayed for the update not to fail because of a crappy midi interface......

With the 2box you just copy the file to the sd card and presto, no need to delete the older OS, the box starts up with the most recent one, smart eh?.

I just tried a 64gb sandisk extreme pro 170MB/s SD Card. It wasn't recognized by the module and it showed the Fat error, no OS installed. I formatted the card and same thing.

Review from Germany:
yeah, agree, the rack is a pita, I got a couple of finger cuts, cheap plastic. The rest is ok.

Have you installed the latest 1.36.3 OS version from They mention the issue you’re having and it’s fixed:
„Fixed also an issue with hihat type (HTYP) on the Hihat calibration page. After restart the choosen HTYP is correctly shown in the display but it hasn’t been correctly initialized in the system. This is now corrected.„

I recorded the Decades expansion from SD3, man this sounds just beautiful, forget the mimic, forget positional sensing, nothing comes this close to this wonderful box.

Another short demo:

Remember this is a drumit 3 module so no new stuff there, is just about the pads and how they react with new and older OS

Yeah, love Kit 1, the Gretsch US Maple, the VLT kit number 9, the Walnut Dry kit 12, the Cube Beech Custom kit 14, and of course the Sonor SQ1 coated kit 15 and clear kit 16, the Cube Acryl Dry kit 17, the GMS Red Sparkle kit 18, the Maple Classic kit 19 and the Studio Fusion Kit 24.

I recorded all 24 Kits in Logic and uploaded them in 3 parts to my soundcloud, you can listen to them here:

Ok, enough with the mystery, got my drumit 5 MK2 module today and just setting it up, here are my first impressions:
  • the box is similar to the drumit 3
[li]the power adapter is a generic one
a plastic mounting plate is included
the quick start guide is similar to the drumit 3, no full manual included
The SD Card is nicely fitted in the card slot, it doesn't rag a bit, it is spring loaded but you'll need long fingernails or a plastic thing to get it out because it doesn't come out so easily when pushing it.
I took it out and first surprise: is a micro sd card in a generic sd card adapter! it has a plastic seal so I can't see which micro sd card it is.
as advertised is a 32GB card
it has 12.1 GB data with 17,4GB free
it comes with OS 1.36.1 installed
there are 75 kits, from 1 to 24 are completely new kits with new and old instruments, these sound really really nice!

I did the sd card test with HD tune, first test showed an access time of .87 ms

that's it for now….

Short demo of the kit by andertons

Just released, Steven Slate Audio 5.5, easier midi learn, 13 new "Designer" Kits, free upgrade for SSD5 users.

I don't know, too much hassle to create dsnds from some plastic sounds.... if you have a 2box you are wasting this by sampling a td-30... just buy addictive drums or ssd5 and sample those instead...

Nice, but man, you're supposed to play the vh-11 hihat with the roland logo on the back not facing you! you're losing some hits there.

That´s great
Thanks alot for the info and help.
I will try to "sample" some sounds from my TD-30 this way and do a .dsnd file and see how it works

The td-30 samples are not multilayered.... you can create a dsnd with 200 samples but if they are not multilayered/round robin'ed you'll end up with an AK-47....
