Does anyone know if the kick input is a dual channel one?
If so, if I put a cable splitter in. would I be able to plug 2 kicks into that input?

no it isn't ... but you should always use a stereo jack :  the tip of the jack is for the piezo sensor , the ring carries 18volts in order to power a LED that was present on MK1 kick pads .

You can still plug 2 kick pads to the kick input , but you ll need a custom made Y splitter : a female TRSjack  with 2  TSjacks wired both to the tip of the TRS female plug (nothing plugged to the ring )

Best thing for you is to use Tom4 input with 2 Bass drum pad and a stereo splitter . So you can easily  have the same sound on both , or two different sounds when needed ... Then use your kick In for something else .

TD4 comes with different toms configurations

If you have PDX-8 or PDX-6 , it s possible on toms and snare input .
Those pads are piezo/piezo , like 2box stock pads .

PD-8 has a piezo for the head zone and a switch for the rim ..
if you have PD-8 pads you cant have 2 zones on toms or snare  ...exept if you plug it on a cymbal input and set the trig mode to CYCUP . (Cymbal inputs on 2BOX modules are also Piezo/switch )

But for this you ll need to make a special Dsound with one sound for bow and one for the edge .
It s not possible to assign a different Dsound to the edge of a cymbal in the 2BOX module .
By the way , IMO it would be easy to make this possible with an OS update ... it would be a nice function that wont need any processor power , as it allready works if you build a cymbal dsound ...

do you have the same problem if you plug it to another input ? (using same parameters )

hello

You have to place the switch on top of the top cymbal ... If not , you wont have a 2 zone hihat ...
This is how 2BOX designed their HH & cymbal inputs ...

IMO , if you place it inside the HH between the 2 cymbals , you'll have the edge sound triggered as soon as you put some force on the pedal , or , no effect at all if the switch isn't pinched when closing ...

Footsplash or chick don't use the switch sensor , they are interpolated by the brain with the velocity+position of the magnet/hall sensor ... Fast closing = chick , fast closing+fast release=footsplash ...

hi guys

i recently bought 3 second hand DAUZ 6" rubber pads , like those on this picture  .

They were ultra cheap ( 5 euro each ) and ultra old too ( maybe 15 years or more ) , but i wanted to have some for a long time so i bought them ...
The parcel arrived today ... The plastic has been glued at some points where it was cracked , and some screws were a bit rusty .
One pad has real low signal compared to the others that worked fine . So i opened it to see what was wrong ...
After re-soldering the wires well , it was the same , so i changed the 27mm piezo for a brand new one . Then it worked fine like the others .

The rubber on my pads is quite stiff , it maybe because it s old , i guess on actual models it could be softer and more bouncy .
The construction of the pad is really simple and clever . Its a metal plate inside a rubber envelope with a piezo sticked in the center. This "head" is fixed on the body of the pad with 3 springs , like a car shock absorber . I m sure it helps with crosstalk ...

I have the so-called " Sandwich Mount "  , that uses 2 rubber gaskets in between them you sandwich your rod ... so everything is done to avoid bleeding from other pads . This is nice as you just have to set the threshold around -40/-36 , and don't have to use Xtalk cancellation .

For the moment , all the Roland or Yamaha simple rubber pads i tried were way too hot to use with the Drumit 5 , unless you add a resistor to lower the gain ...
( Without resistor , It s possible to use the ACC trigger mode that allows a higher gain , but IMO the pad's response is weird...  )

Those Dauz pads have just the right level !!!
... I use them with PAD8 mode , normal curve , -40 threshold , gain between 0 and +3 . At 0db , it s hard to reach level 127 , so that s perfect ...

The pad is hotspoting a bit when you hit it dead center (where the piezo is ), but the response is nice and accurate .
You can place 2 pads on the same mount without having a lot of troubles with crosstalk thanks to the spring insulation design + rubber sandwich mount ... 6" is small and it s easy to fit it anywhere on any kit .

It s quite easy to DIY meshpads with success using existing drum hardware , but when it comes to make reliable small triggers that you want to be able to attach strongly anywhere without crosstalk , it s another story ...

They arent cheap new actually , and not available in Europe , but for a bit more than a PD8 , i think it s worth the extra money if you need something like this .

Just my 2 cents ...

2 ply heads are usually louder than one ply ... but imo , your problem comes from the plastic shell of your REMO muffle ring ...

Thanks
First of all, wasn't aware that Rim settings are available under the More option...thanks for the heads up
Now, doing that, pressing Snare button to check the rim sound (in rim mode)...well...it indeed produces sort of mixture of snare and rim hit...not the clear rim click as I enjoy to hear in blues/ballad kind of songs...
If this is the rim sound available - not worth the efforts in my eyes...

I'm interested in rim click, not a rim shot.
Is there any kit that would produce such clean rim click (kind of probably wooden stick on wooden rim ?) ?

Hello Pret ...

I know that a forum is a place where people ask questions and other share knowledge , but , i m quite sure 50% of the questions you post here could be answered by yourself if :

- you take time to read the manual
- by simply looking on your module , turning the encoders and try the sounds . Trial & errors is the key to undrestanding . Some say help yourself ...

It s just my opinion , and you can post as much as you want ... :)

have a nice day .

Looks like 2box drumit 3 is getting close to being released :)

https://www.facebook.com/2BoxDrums/

Anybody know if the 2box Hihat will work with the Drumit 3? I would think it should be not sure if the technologies are compatible with the universal input it will have now.

it works ...

it could have a 2 tera SSD , if a kit has to be smaller than 200mo its kinda useless ...

The drum sounds much better than with the stock sounds in the video , it s a shame , cause with 200mo , as you said , you can have a decent Hihat , a snare and thats it ...

Good to hear my module development, like 8 years ago, still makes people happy :-)

I'm 99% happy since 2010 with my module ... Hope to be happy ten more years with it ...

Thanx  Mr Loper ;)

We cant say anytrhing usefull as long as you dont record and share the audio ...

i was talking about the audio level , not the trigger settings ...
