if you want a cheap solution , you could use the electronic circuit board that is in the 2BOX hihat ...

Here s an old post from Manfred in 2013:
http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,897.msg8723.html#msg8723

then you just need an old FD7 or FD8 + a magnet & stick the board & magnet inside .

You can also use a kick pedal , but IMO the feeling isnt that right . ( i tried it first when i got my HHboard from Manfred back in the days )
Then i decided to have both acoustic & electronic HH at the same time , bought a remote HH pedal with cable , put the box on the plate & magnet on the back of the pedal ...
I use a modded Yamaha PCY135 for triggering ...
Like that i control the opening on both HH at the same time .
And it feels like a hh pedal ...

You could also use a cable HH stand ... millenium is making one for around 50â,¬ ...

IMO 360° is not really a solution , and it would be better to fix the rotation issue , because someday the cable or jack will fail or give false contacts & triggering  problems ...

Can someone explain why 360° is usefull for a e-hihat ?  Even for a cymbal i cant see the point ...

Do you guys run around your kit while playing or what ? :)    :drum2: :drum2:

Well ...the manual is here  http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,3815.0.html

- you need stereo cables
- use cym A input for 2box or yamaha 3 zone cymbals , or other brand 2 zone cymbals , cym B is for roland 3 zones cymbals that need 2 jacks .

Thanks, super useful suggestions!! Do you think the DrumIt Three is good enough to warrant an 'upgrade' from the Five? It's kinda confusing because it almost looks like it's 'less' powerful, and I don't just mean the confusing naming of going from 'Five' down to 'Three'....! In fact, I kinda assumed because it has less buttons/knobs on the front that it'd be less powerful. In my heart of hearts I was really hoping 2Box would do something more like that Pearl Mimic Pro with a touch screen for their DrumIt Five successor.....  :-\

D3 is D5 with less outs , buttons + universal trigger and apparently upgraded D/A converters ...

I would say ...

FIRST SOLUTION :
keep the module , hihat , pd120 and one cy12rc  , and sell the rest ...

there you could buy a cheap TD4/11 KV ( the one with mesh pads and KD9 kick pad )

or better an old TD9KX2 ... those are around 700/900 dollars ...

Then sell the roland module ...  You ll have a 12" snare 10" floor tom and 3x8" pads , all dual zone ...

about the 3 zone cymbals , frankly , is it really usefull to have a bell sound on the 2 craches ? And isnt it ok to have just bow and bell on the ride ?  Ok on the ride , 3 zones are handy .. so , next solution ....

SECOND SOLUTION :
Keep only the pd120 + 1 cy12rc , and sell the rest . Then buy the same td9KX2 + a drumit3   ... then enjoy all 3 zones cymbals + VH11 hihat

A crossover solution , is solution one ( td9+Drumit5) + a zourman box for the 3zone ride ...

The hold and decay functions are good on drums to get a phil Collins hated Sound.

Hated or gated ? ... or both ... ? ;)

It's basically the same as the drumit 5, I don't know what took them so long to release it...

Maybe the number 3 key  was broken on their computer keyboard ...

Yes, obviously. But the different possible combinations add up quickly, like, oh, I need Tom2 to be quiet and Tom4 Rim, but in the next patch it will be Tom1Rim and Crash Edge and Tom4 and so on, hence my question to simply control levels per channel and not per kit.

Christian
I'm not sure it would be as handy as you think it is ...  That would make 14 controls for kick toms HH & snare (one for each zones), + 3 (or nine if you want it by zones) for cymbals  ...
So , if you don't have a 16 channel MIDI controller ,  you ll still have to go into submenus (with a smaller controller)
Also , with an individual level control for the whole unit (not by kits ) , if you go to another kit , you ll have the risk to have some pads not working if you forget to reset the volumes as it was before  ...

IMO it s easier to simply copy the kit you want to alter , you can make a lot of kits , i guess now it s illimited ...
Changing kits can be automated via MIDI program changes , so if you work with a computer , the 2BOX kit can be automatically changed for different songs ...

Another solution is to make a blank DSOUND , with just silence in it , and you wont have to change the volume at all ... if you need  tom 1 rim to be muted , you go to kit menu and change the sound for the blank one , and that s it ...

If that turns out to be too much, I might play the D3s sounds directly and mute any channels which play MIDI sounds

what you can do is make different kits , with Dsound volume set to zero on the pads you intend to trigger laptop sounds ...

no , remote controlling the internal audio mixer of the DRUMIT5/3 is not possible for the moment ...

I totally agree it would be a useful thing ... Also it would be nice to be able to assign the new "functions" ( kit up/down , metronome start/stop ) to an external multipad via midi , so you dont waste pad inputs on the 2box module ...

It should be done with a software update , as i dont think it s a resource consuming feature ...

Hello 2BOX team ... what s up ...? ;)

Another feature i d like to see in a future os update , is the ability to assign different DSOUNDs to any 3zone of the cymbals pads ( it s already doable for toms & snare )...
OK you can do it if you make your own Dsound with the editor , but doing it on the fly would be so better ...

And if possible , a dedicated volume control for each 3 zones ... again , not a resource consuming feature ...

did you already split your tom inputs ?  If not , the rim of snare & toms can be independent ...

Also , if you dont use the bell zone on your 2 crashes , you could make special 3 zones Dsounds , with cymbal sounds for edge & bow , and an extra sound on bell zone , then you can trig it via MIDI ...
