Kickpad MK1to MK2 conversion.... How?

I read on the forum that some members have concerted their kit from MK1 to MK2.

Can someone tell me how this conversion works?

ezzviah

So, I wasn't patient enough to wait for your answer...

I removed the inside of the kickpad (metal and foam), moved the piezo to the bottom (there was already a perfect cutout in the metal to fit the pieze).

I switched the single head from 2Box for a double head from 628Drums.com and put the orange ring back on.

But, yes... this feels much better. Less rebound with the rubber beater and more accoustic-a-like playing feel. It triggers great so it's a keeper!

I think I should add the foam ring, just like the rest of the pads have. I'm now using nothing...

I emailed 2Box and they asked me to contact HandinHandUK but so far no results on getting the foam.

So, any thoughts for the foam ring?

I just removed the foam as well and all my low volume issues are gone! so I think the foam is just there to give more stability and protection to the o-rims in the snare and toms, but you'll never hit a kick on the rim do you? :P so no need for foam there I reckon...

but you miss your kickpad (2box-logo) light thats a shame.I have still a mk1 kickpad.Why should I make a conversion to mk2?

if it works great for you roel dont, but all of us that had mk1 kick, had many issues. mostly the low volume of kick
when i did the conversion mine also had no round foam ring behind the orange thingy and it double triggered a lot. after i got the foameverything was smooth and much better than before. for mk2 is way better but if your kick is fine, well dont mess anything.
dont forget though that with mk2 kick there is less noise than mk1 kick

Ok thank you for the information, Will there come a step by step photo manual how we must convert from a mk1 to mk2?
that will be much easier for 2box users with 2 left hands.maby manfred can do this? :animal:

i think there is mate, dont have much time but there is a thread in the forum with photos. just open the kick remove the foam remove the back plate (unscrew it) remove the cables that open the light put the sensor on the bottom and you are done. i remember in mine there was a problem with the wires cause i rememebr they had to pass from a hole but dont remember very well. anyway it is easy

I also want to convert my kickpad. I opened it and i understand what needs to be done. I only have two questions:
1 how is the sensor mounted? With glue or something? I can't get it loose without using force and I don't want to break it.
2 what do you do with de leds and its wires? Cut it out?

BURNIN AMBITION

yes the bottom of the foam is glued, you have to carefully remove it. it is normal that some part will stay glued, just make sure it is little
about the led wires yes you cut em but let someone else answer with fore certainty

maby someone can take some time and make us a photo manual do this conversion.
thank you.

BURNIN AMBITION

well the whole story of mine is this (was bored to write it but hey, if i can help...)

ok i wanted to do the conversion by myself. removing the back plate was easy. tricky part was to do the rest, i was afraid so i sent it to the distributor
he told me that sensor was glued . they removed it easilyand i noticed onlyu a tiny bit of foam had still stayed in the hole. no big deal. they had cut 2 out of the 4 wires you have. the ones that went to the 2box lights. these were completely removed. now since the cables were not long enough to be able to put the sensor on the bottom (and they were under some hoe so it was difiicult, these people cut the cables and then they connected them again after putting the sensors on the bottom. and put also some tape in the cuts. i had some problems cause the kick i had never had the round foam ring under the orange shafty so i had many double triggers . thats why i got meself a new one!!! mk2
but this is how it is done.
for me, if you dont have the foam ring dont make the conversion yet.just check it mate

anyways it is well worth it

when i had the mk1, just removing the center piece of foam also did miracles

just a thought

Sorry but i can't. My kick is already converted and i won't revert that just to take some pictures. But how about you, sounds like yours is still not converted?

Regards, Manfred

Edit: In this thread you can at least find a picture of the open kick pad:
