Same cymbal issues for me with the 1.2 beta: All my cymbals bows trigger bells and the ride just doesn't trigger all hits:(

Reverting to 1.1 for now.

i formatted in windows 7, with 32 kb cluster. you think windows lied and i have to format, your way?

No, not unless you see the error message:
FAT_S_0512_C_16k
and the brain goes no farther when booting up.
If it does you need to reformat using Windows explorer, making sure the allocation size says 32kilobytes, or from the command line using:
Format E: /FS:FAT32 /A:32K  (Substitute your card's drive letter for E:)

Hopefully it'll save someone some time if they get this message and are freaking out over it. ;D

Thanx snidley for that hint. I know about that 32k. clustersize and had choosen this option when formated the card with the explorer but as it seems, windows made it different :(.

Know with the console comand format i get the "unaligned cluster" message again! :'(

More ideas anybody?

I'm not sure that it will work, but you can try to use the BootUpdater1.3 after formatting the sd card?

http://www.2box.se/Pages/bootcode-update.html

Deve Loper

Don't use the boot updater if you already have boot 1.30 or 1.32!
The unaligned cluster message is a warning about the format of the card.
All cards delivered with DrumIt have 32 kB clusters all starting at x * 32 kB, aligned at multiples of their own size that is. This is for optimizing the audio playback.
All changes to the memory format are at the users own risk.

Deve,

Can you advise us how we format our cards properly in Windows/Linux/Mac O/S to optimize the audio playback?  Many of us have purchased new SD cards, and if you could tell us the correct format method we could resolve the issue ourselves.  The general rule has been to format the SD card with a 32kb cluster size before copying the drumit data onto the card, but this is the first time I have heard that allignment of those clusters affects the actual performance of the module.  Can you clarify?

Deve Loper

Hi.
It's generally a bad idea to reformat SD cards. Since they are based on rather large erase blocks (NAND Flash technology), the factory format of the card should be retainded. With few exceptions, I have not encountered large SD cards with cluster size other than 32 kB, so no need to reformat.
Windows doesn't "know" it's an SD card, so it might do formatting based on other disk access prerequisites. For NAND Flash, having the clusters aligned is best.
Some SD card manufacturers have their own SD card format utilities, try SanDisk.

Deve when we can expect the full OS 1.20? will this update, fix the weird ride triggering, when playing the ride with low velocity.

Deve Loper

Try this (seems PC only though):

http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/

Read this too:

http://www.hjreggel.net/cardspeed/cs_calign.html

1.20 release will have adjustable bow/edge trigger level while the cup is fixed.
This allows to set the bow level so it does not generate cup zone triggers.

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded that format tool and am formatting one card that didn't seem to format correctly previously. A quick question. I have cards that I previously formatted in Windows 7 to the Fat 32 32Kbyte format. The card is working and I've been using it for weeks.... no unaligned cluster message. So, should I still reformat this and start over? IE ... is there a possibility the card is not performing to the optimum right now ... not sure if there is any way to tell???? Thanks for helping us out!!! Appreciated, J

Oh and PS .... Excellent addition of bow and edge trigger level adjustments .... perfect! Hats off to you ... to Bengt! I have been buying and playing edrums for many years and have NEVER experienced the kind of commitment/support for a previously released product. It seems the normal procedure is to release ... provide an update, maybe .... offer an expansion card at a substantial fee. Then look forward to the replacement model after that. Your continued, timely improvements to this module that is already very very nice.... are much appreciated!!! J
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

It's working now!

Coool!

Thanx Deve loper for that hint with the SD Formatter.

I think another reason for " Don't format a Flash Device" is the information about write cycles of any cell in an Flashmemory. There is an algorithm to optimize those cycles over all cells because of the limited writecycles.
These infomation is also lost when it was formated right?

Another wish for new software releases:
- I'd like to have an shuttle through a playback or loop option with one of the incremental knobs
- mp3 Support!!
Pleaseeeeeeee

Is there a new 1.2 Beta build? Or is still the same as the first one?
Or is it a private release? :D

When the equalizer is activated on a pad, as well as other functions as Xtrig, it seems that some fast hits are not played (especially on the snare drum).

Overburdened processor?

Edit: in fact softs hits are missed on the snare (Xtrig activated) when the bass drum is played. (?)
