Hihat calibration

Hi!
I'm having some problems with my hihat's calibration. I calibrate it but sometimes in "breaks" so I just have open or colsed sound. I'd like to know if thi has something to do with the hihat's magnet and what is the function of this piece, since I've seen that sometimes it needs to be changed.

Daft question, do you have the current firmware? At least 1.30?
