Headphone Volume

Hello,Can anybody help me,I'm trying to raise the volume of my headphones at the moment I can only turn it up with the level control. I am trying to balance up the kits for use with my hybrid acoustic kit. I have read the manual about outputs\buses etc but I can't get to grips with it, I need very basic instructions.

Okay so what you're trying to do is balance all kits to each other first so they sound the same in volume when you switch between different kits. Then you want the headphone volume to be loud enough to hear over/level with the acoustic noise of your hybrid kit?
Have I got that correct?
