Hi hat help/ sounds bad

Hi guys + girls

I just picked up my new 2box 5 last week and have it all set up and all sounds awesome so far but the hi hats. I did the open closed calibration but they make a clipping like sound and there is no smooth transition from closed to open or vice verse. Really need help because it sounds really bad and I'm avoiding playing the hats.
