I saw this and for those of us that prefer playing a real kit with mesh heads this is a nice announcement. As many of us can attest the Roland mesh heads are incredibly durable and they trigger excellent. I currently have Roland mesh heads that I have used for 10 plus years that still perform as well as they did when they were new. Previously 8, 10, 12, and 14" were the only sizes available .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MroONulN7rM

Great heads but I never ever got that drum sound out of a Roland module

Looks really interesting. I wonder when they'll be available. Glad to see they now make a 13" head.

He is playing the TD-30. It does sound good on that video, but those that have compared sounds of the 2Box side by side with the TD-20X and TD-30 .... I think the difference/improvement of the 2Box real sampled drums becomes obvious.

i own both modules, and those sounds on the vid can be found in the 2box module. Not in the td30. Or this is a not yet relesed update, whisful thinking

Interesting. From what I can see on the video close up the MIDI ports aren't being used on the module, but it is impossible to see if the USB port is plugged in which is directly below and to the side of the power cord ..... USB could be used to trigger external sounds. I'm not saying that is the case, but?

Edit: it doesn't appear the USB is hooked up either.

Guys. It's a video not a live performance.  ;D
I definately hear TD30 especially on the snare and the cymbals. I assume they have made a lot of post processing of the sounds for the video.

InTheBox

Since these are geared more towards the triggering segment rather than the e-kit segment, hopefully they will be priced somewhat competitively with regular drum heads.

I know the guy in the video. His name is Ben Stone, from South Wales. Plays with Tom Jones, Mike And The Mechanics and Roachford! He's a lovely guy and not only a superb drummer, but a general excellent musician on various instrument.

Hi Ben (if you're reading this by any chance!!!)
My Hovercraft is full of Eels!
