One of the things that has really annoyed me the last few days is the hihat pad creeping up the rod whenever I put some pressure on the hihat pedal.

My fix for this was roughing up the small length of the hihat rod that goes in the clutch  with the rough side of a whetstone (knife sharpening stone). Since I replaced the rod on my TAMA stand with the 2box one, I wasn't overly concerned with damaging any expensive equipment anyway.

Now the pad is rock solid, no creeping, and triggering seems to have improved

To be honest, it is a common mistake caused by the factory default mistake. my English is not good enough to use the right component names on top of my head but if you insert the copper hexa thingy the right (other way around) way in the hihat the wingnut will tighten properly.

I did that, but the thing was still sliding under pressure, so hence the rough-up.
