How to use Roland CY-12R/C in '3-zone' mode??

I have two Roland CY-12R/C cymbal pads. Each has two jack sockets, one for edge/bow sounds and one for bow/bell sounds. I've heard it's possible to use all three - would I just need some kind of Y-split cable? And does it matter which 'line' I solder to which part of the cable? Or can I just edit this later in the 2Box module??
