Hey guys,

I decided to buy a 13" Z-Ed 3 ply mesh head for my snare as I read they have less rebound than single or dual ply heads.

Anyway I bought this to replace a 682Drums dual ply head (which are very good!) and here's what I found:

1. This 3 ply head is a lot quieter! there's no 'buzz'  sound from the head like the dual ply.

2. The rebound is definitely less than the dual ply.

3. At £10.99 it's an absolute bargain!

Cheers

I live in the Usa Brian as well. Does anybody sell them here?. I have the 682's in black all around . Do you like this  just for your snare or would you consider putting them all around?

I have the black 682's on my 8" tom's and I like them, but would I change all my heads for the 3 ply? I probably would since they are so cheap. As to US availability you could try EBay, that's where I got mine.

Happy new year!

Will take a look, for, now,I still play with the original mesh-heads. Only the kick has it's second 682 head (now with tennis ball beater and falam).

Z-ed heads are made specially for a UK distributor, so I doubt you will find them outside Europe. If you really want to try three-ply, then Billy Blast has a range in the US.
And don't forget to check digitalDrummer's legendary head2head comparisons - another three heads get the treatment in February, including the revamped Pintech single ply.

Hi Allan, Happy New Year! . I already tried the billy blast 3 ply's and although performance was fine they were very loud. .second floor apt. dweller and a tough neighbor downstairs so i was attracted to not bouncy and super quiet . I will try to scare up one of these for my snare and see what happens

Hi from Germany,
you can buy the Z-ED's by Jobeky-Drums in the UK.
The Z-ED Triple-X are little bit louder than the Z-Ed Twin, but both mesh's are great to play.

Happy new year!

I guess it's true, the only way you really know whether a product works for you is try it yourself  after Brian's post,  I was leaning  towards the zed triple plys because Brian mentioned that they are quieter than 682's and with less rebound , more realistic than some others and then Westpack said the trips are louder than the Dubbs so who knows? Because of combined shipping and duties I would like to buy a set but not without trying. So I am left with buying one and if I like it going for the rest, unless anybody selling a good used here 14 inch trip

BURNIN AMBITION

do not buy them mate. i have said that in thepast. if you want to buy the 14 inch one for your 2box kick, you wont be able to fit it without breaking the 2box pad or getting new screws. the 12 inch one was a very very very tight fit
the rebound is also more than the 682 heads
i know what brian said, i have ben emailing with him a lot. but he is using a custom 13 inch snare. i dunno if it has something to do with that but i can tell you zed has more rebound than 682. you could believe brian me or  digital drummer, whoever you want, but at least i feel i have to warn you about the 14 inch kick... whatever you do, good luck!!!!
2box, bengt, deve, digital drummer, Jman, Brian, Manfred thanx for everything

Thanks Burnin,     I must have been vague. I don't have a 2 box kit . I have a Ludwig a to e conversion kit with  2 up 1 down and a chrome snare with a 2  box module  and  Triggera kriggs. I am going to add my matching 20 inch  ludwig kick but probably just for show to keep the neighbors civil. So, I don't know how these z Ed tripps  fit full size shells, but I don't really foresee a problem.
I am gonna buy one new if I can't find one used in the USA for my 14 snare and try it out myself . I have had Roland, harts, billy blast, and pearls so I should get a pretty good idea what's up quickly

BURNIN AMBITION

since you have acoustic shells my friend, you really shouldnt have a problem!!!!! go for it!!! cheers

Hi Murgen, I just got the Kat Ball beater today, so I finally put on my 682 kick drum head. It's quite a big difference than the rubber pad for the kick.

What's your recommendation for the head, should it be really tight, and do you recommend a falam with the ball beater? I do notice the whole bar system shakes a heck of a lot more with the mesh head and ball beater then it did with the rubber head and felt beater.
I may look at the bar reinforcement for the kick that others have implemented.

Thanks

hemiboy

You mentioned the shaking or vibration already but curious if the head is louder or quieter than other meshes
