not the original one, i have a drumtech design meshhead. my girl upon her return from the us, she brought me a rachet drum key that made it easier to tighten veru much, the mesh head. i exagerated on the tightness because i like the mesh to be tight, and the upper ply got a hole that is 2x5 cm id say.
well i was thinking to just rip the upper mesh off what do you think?
i could use the 2box head any time though, but i am weighting also other options.
i see a lot of people talking about 628 mesh heads. does it feel closer to a real snare? thats all i careabout. the drumtech when tight enough was real close to the real snare feel. also, in my kick i have a roland mesh head. will it be worth to change it to a 628 head or not? anyone tried both of them so they can compare them?
another option would be to wait to get the 2box rubber heads. would that be a better option overall?

thank you guys

I have a 682 on my kick and is a major improvement. Haven't got the snare head yet.

thank you for your reply mate, your thread was the reeason for me thinking about them. on the other hand i dunno if i shoudl stick with the original mesh heads and rubbers (when they get available. i fell that 2ply heads with rubbers might not work so well becaue both of them will be stiffer then the soft 2box mesh heads so i have to decide which road to follow!!! my gear aquiring syndrome sia startiing to complain lol

Hi John,

I just got a 682 dual ply head for my new snare and it is certainly stiffer than the 2box ones and quite similar to the Roland heads but much cheaper! I'd definitely recommend them.

Cheers

thank you brian!!!! if anyone has compared 628 kick head with roland kick heads please do tell. since i will propably irder from them, id reather get both a snare and a kick mesh head.

There are no separate kick heads - they just vary by size. Obviously, with a kick, it's worth getting the strongest you can since it will constantly be struck in the same place. I think you would probably be safe with either Roland or 682drums, but you may also be interested in the coarse single-ply drum-tec head (can't remember what it's called, but it feels rock solid). I had one which I sold to someone as a kick head and he loved it. It was quite noisy however.

thank you alan. so perhaps i wont need to get a 628 kick mesh head (i know the only difference is the size;) )since i have a roland one for it. i simply asked since i wil be propably get a snare mesh fom 628, so getting the kick would be a nice opportunity. but i dont need it for sure...
