I also posted this at vdrums. All of the sudden over the weekend my on line storage site I had a lifetime unlimited membership to IS NO MORE. Consequently most of my links on my own Stealthdrums.com website as well as links I posted on the forums are useless. I had 8 years of files stored on the site. Videos, pictures, data, update files, etc. I do have almost all of the files still on my PC and a backup of the info from the storage site coming to me, so it is not all lost. But I'm sure I will never restore all the info that I have put up on the web over such a long period. I have purchased more on line storage from a new place. It will take quite a while to restore most of the newer files and links I feel are important ..... So .... all that just to say many of my pics, videos, and links I have already posted on the forum will be missing for a while ... J
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Sorry to hear it, Jman. Did they give you any warning?
I'm paranoid about data loss and have two full back-ups of everything - one done daily and the other incrementally, as files change.
With the price of hard drives so low, their capacity so big and speed increasing all the time, it makes sense to keep copies of everything.

0 warning. All the info on my FTP was files I still have on my hard drives. But those files are linked to all over the place. Here, vdrums.com, my website, music collab sites. etc.... so for example if you go to the thread here on compatible SD cards for 2Box you will see that the pics in my posts are gone. Because the images were stored on my FTP and the [img] links in the thread no longer exist. So since this goes back so many years, and I left the files up all those years ..... if you were to go back to my posts on forums from years back you will get broken links.... before I had left all that info up on the web .... so you could have gone to a thread from 2005 about the Gretsch A E kit I built and still find pics ...... not anymore. Even if I were to load every bit of my files back to a new site it would be impossible for me to redo the links in threads for 8 years .... So, basically much of the info I have added to threads over the years is now just a broken link in time .... J

no "unlimited free membership" kinda business can survive in the long run.

i suggest that you get your own domain name (if you don't already have one), and choose a decent host. that way if the host turns to crap or goes belly up you can simply sign up with a new host and not have all your links break.

[edit] i see you already have at least one domain. use that domain (or a subdomain of it), or a another domain entirely as the basis of your future content.

Yes, thanks. I do have 10Gb of storage on my website hosting and added another 10GB for more file storage..... and if needed could easily add more ... but I had my FTP space years before my website, so I had just left my files there with links. Now I have to start moving things over, changing links, etc... J

It is a s**tload of work, I know that. I keep everything on my networkdrive and recently started using flickr with the same risk you ran. However, my hoster started generating auto messages because my 2Box pics draw too much traffic. Take care, m8.
