searching for consoles i saw this in a greek site
MACKIE PROFX 8 for 150 euro. is it worth it?
or should i get an external; sound card for my pc that is also a console? please help me my gear acquisition syndrome is killing me now

Hi mate

this mackie mixer has all you may need for home , rehersal or Gigs ...

- you can make 2 different mixes , one for your monitor ( speaker or headphone ) and one for the main PA ....  there is a small graphic EQ ;  that is very handy to adapt the sound to the kind of speaker or room ....
- you could plug your 6 outs to the 3/4 5/6 7/8 stereo inputs , and still have some inputs left :1 & 2 (mic and line) plus the ST return ( a stereo line in , but only available for the main out i guess ) plus the tape input ( RCA PLUG)

- add reverb with a different amount for any "group" of drums

- for example , you can use a microphone to have an ambience of the room and hear better the other players and what s going on on stage ...
on the second line in , you could also get a mix from the monitor engeneer , who can send you a mix of vocals , bass and guitars that you can add to your headphone mix

- you can also record a stereo mix of drums with USB , enough for a work DEMO  ...

You told in your other post you wanted to be able to record the tracks separately and with the console's EQ ...

IMO it s not a really good idea ...  it s far better to record everything "dry "  and process in the computer ....

Like someone told you here , it s easy to record your drums in MIDI . I know it was complicated for you , but when you have no money , it s time to be smart! ;)

If i were you , i would record one midi track( DRUMIT MIDI out to computer's MIDI in)  plus the main stereo out ( via usb in this case)

Like this , you have the audio file and still can redo the mix by playing the midi track back to the 2BOX MIDI in and re-record it  later on
... You can even record multiple tracks , as you can do this once for the Kick+Hihat  , another time for stereo SNARE , then stereo mix of TOMS and to finish a stereo mix of cymbals ....

This is a good and economic way to achieve good recordings ...

Also , there are no miracles .... If you want a Gear with good quality processing , multiple IN & OUTs to a computer , you ll have to spend much more than 150€.

Another solution could be to have a  cheap 6  or 8 inputs audiocard  , and use signal splitter cables . Not the same cables you used for the toms ... but a mono jack  splitted to 2 mono jacks . One plugged on the mixer , and other one to the audiocard .  It s a bit complicated in term or wiring , but like this , you can avoid the MIDI thing ....

hope this helps

have a nice day

BURNIN AMBITION

just to let everyone know, i ordered these
http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-RIGHT-ANGLE-ADAPTOR-inch-PHONE/dp/B000068O45/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1359929724&sr=1-2&keywords=90+degree+jack+to+jack+1%2F4+inch

(not the exact same but anyway). i put it in the 2 cy-8 cymbals i used as china and crash. and all of a sudden they now are as loud as the 2box cymbals. perhaps it had something to do with the cable being too tight before? or the cymbals not being very free to move as the jack of the original cables restricted the cymbals move... i dunno how exactly, but my problem is solved and i thought id mention it so that everyone that might face the same thing , knows the solution. now all is well and i am so happy! cheers
