Would you be interested in a Mac version of SDSE? (only vote if you are a Mac user)

Yes, a Mac version is a must for me
I would but I already use the Windows version on my Mac or notebook
No, free solutions like Boot Camp or VirtualBox are enough, keep the focus on supporting VSTs

It's a good idea beppedrum, I worked on this tonight. I hope I understood your request correctly.
With the next version you will be able to start exporting in batch, allowing to export all instruments for a single kit piece, in addition to the current way which is to export from one piece to a whole kit at once.
You'll be able to export all BFD2 snares (or kick, cymbal or any other slot) from a BFD2 sound pack in a single step. It only works for BFD2 for now and I'll look at adding it for Addictive, but it won't be available for SD2.

BURNIN AMBITION

this is a great feauture. cause it will save us too much time. i could be able to make all snares in a single step!!!
how does it work? does it create all snares from a certain path in our pc? cause for instane i have 2 expansions in the same windows path. will it make snares from both expansions at once or will it make the snares in 2 steps (because i have 2 expansions)? anyway, this is excellent. i wish it could be available for all vst.especially sd...

also, another question. lets say i extract this way, all snares all toms etc from bfd. and i have them saved in folders named like in 2box brain (snares, toms etc). when i load a new kit (which of course will have snares toms etc from the ones i already have converted), will it just created the kit dsnd file, or will it create again also snares toms etc? and if it createsagain snares etc, will they be exactly the same files, so i could overwrite the ones already created? thank you so much. cant wait for my hdds to come from usa and me starting creating dsdnds! cheers

Oh yes!
I do all the snare together, then the toms etc.
an automatic procedure would be very useful
Lustar thanks!

BURNIN AMBITION

an automatic procedure would be amazing. with one click having all sounds in files ready to be transfered!! well said!!!! of course i dunno if it can be done, and the program is great how it is and i dont want to sound like a spoiled kid always wanting more, so i will say just a big " thank you lustar for everything" and leave it at this!! thank you

Burnin Ambition:
If you set the kit with a Snare and start batch mode, it will export the snare you selected and all the other snares for the same BFD2 expansion pack. To export all Snares from another expansion pack you would have to select the first Snare from that other pack and start batch mode.
I don't think it will be possible to do it for SD2, but it will probably be possible for AD.

About .dkit files, they are only created when you export a kit. Exporting from batch mode won't create the .dkit files. It would be interesting to be able to generate a matching .dkit for any given VST kit, and not only when we export a full kit to .dsnd from a VST or when we build a full kit to .dsnd/.dkit directly from .wav.

If you export kit pieces twice the existing files won't be overwritten, the new file won't be moved to a "Snares SD2" subfolder.

About batch mode, I think it will be more interesting when you decide to change a setting and update all your Snares, or if you don't want to export all kits but still want all Snares and all Kicks. If you plan on exporting full kits exporting a kit at a time may be a better idea.

I'll check that everything works this weekend and hope to get the new version out next week.

BURNIN AMBITION

thank you for the info mate. so i will have to use the first snare of the pack right? but how do i know which one is the first snare? since when i choose snares, they are all in the same page. if i use for instance the third snare, will te program create alla snares but the first 2? i dont complain of course, i just ask so that i know how to create thedsnds.

also when i create a whole kit, if i understood well, the whole kits dsnds will be recreated but in another folder right? that is cool. all i need to know is if snares created separately, and snares created through the whole kit option, will have same file name. if so it is great cause once i create the whole kit, i can keep the dkit and delete theinstrument dsnds, since i will have already created them when i export all snares etc. (provided they have same name)!! thank you so much my friend. cant wait to start converting

Another great added feature! ..... I was thinking today how spoiled I am by SDSE .... I had a thousand steps in my brain on how to build dsnds one at a time manually before SDSE was available .... and now I'm so spoiled with this one click solution I doubt if I would even remember all the steps to do it manually ....  :) Plus, I wouldn't even want to do it the old way anymore! I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Burnin:
You can select a kit piece by right clicking on any BFD2 slot and selecting "kit pieces". Then you have a list of all your expansion packs, and all available pieces for each pack. I find it easier and faster than browsing for pieces using the other view with all pieces on one page.
Yes, if you start with the third, it will do all the next ones.
The filenames will be the same, and by default they are sorted in subfolder which I find it easier to manage. By using a folder for each VST you can also see right away if your looking at a SD2 Snare or a BFD2 Snare when browsing for a snare on the small module screen.
I'll look at adding a way to create .dkit files without exporting a whole kit for cases when you just need the .dkit file, so you absolutely won't need to export twice.

Thanks for the kind words Jman. I started working on another tool that I hope will be useful, I'll send you a mail soon ;)

It works! Rendering as we speak. Converting the Vistalite. Gonna be an interesting weekend! Thanx Lustar for the great support! I will keep ya posted about the results.

SDSE 1.4.4 is now available.

This version introduces a new batch mode for BFD2 and Addictive Drums.
In addition to being able to export a full kit in one click you can now export all available instruments for a single kit piece.
If you just begin exporting sounds from your VSTs doing one kit at a time is probably a better idea.
If you feel like you need to upgrade all of your Kicks or Snares because you found a better setting, or just want all Kicks and Snares from all of your sound libraries without necessarily having all toms, this new batch mode allows you to do it even faster than before.

To start exporting a kit piece in batch mode: set up a single kit piece in BFD2 or Addictive Drums then press Shift+F1.
BFD2: Batch Export will stop when all remaining pieces have been exported for the current sound pack. To export all instruments from a sound pack  right click on a kit slot and select the first piece.
Addictive Drums: Batch Export will stop when all pieces have been exported for all sound packs. You can start exporting from anywhere in the list. The list is looped and it will stop when all instruments have been exported.

.dkit files can now be created without existing .dsnd files.
With previous versions a matching .dkit was created when exporting a VST kit to .dsnd (F1 key or "All" button) or when building a .dkit from .dsnd files (F3 key or ".dsnd" button).
It is now possible to set a kit in one of the supported VSTs and press F4 to generate a matching .dkit, without exporting to .dsnd or building from .dsnd.

Here is the list of changes since 1.4.0.
  • batch export of a single instrument type for BFD2 and Addictive Dtums (press Shift+F1)
  • .dkit files can be created from the current VST kit without existing .dsnd files (useful when you already have exported all .dsnd)
  • Toms make and model is now added to .dkit filenames ("SD2NY GMS Coated Heads.dkit")
  • improved BFD2 path detection for expansions (you can move them anywhere, set the path in the BFD2 settings and SDSE will find it)
  • Reaper dock area is moved to the left and scrolled up if needed (required for small notebook screens)
  • fix for DSoundTool loading on Windows 32-bit

Thanks Lustar
it was exactly what I had asked you!
Now SDSE is really perfect
You are simply GREAT!

Hi. I've watched this thread with some interest and would love to see Ezdrummer on the list :)  I have the percussion expansion pack and would like to import some of those sounds. It would be great if that were possible and I'm  sure others would also be interested too. The sounds on the 2box are good but limited.

Do you have Superior Drummer 2? Because the EZdrummer Drum packs are already supported if you have SD2. I just checked the EZ Percussion and did 10 of the instruments in it in one click. It does appear the SDSE Reaper file would need some tweaking though for one click support. AS I say you can one click and get about 10 of the instruments into dsnds now, but it would need some work. EZ percussion is quite different than your typical Drum kit so I assume it would require quite a bit of tweaking if Lustar decided to work that one into the program. At present you still could use SDSE to create all your dsnds from EZX Percussion, but you would prolly need to do some MIDI note changes. That is explained in the SDSE read me file ... J
