Yup, BFD3 is now out .... it sure sounds good to me. I'll prolly upgrade this week. One of the things I love about BFD is the original pack comes with a bunch of new kits and instruments (even a brush kit and mallet kit), unlike Superior which has just one or 2 sets of drums/toms. So with BFD you start out with a pack with a huge amount of potential without worrying about adding expansion packs right away. J

Also tempted. It is time to overhaul one of my 32 GB with new kits.

BFD3 is a new engine, so it will prolly have limited results with SDSE for now. There will prolly be some extra steps for now, at the very least instrument/kit naming. But if I upgrade this week I'll definitely test out creating dsnds. J

I bought the upgrade license. I haven't received the license no. yet to be able to download and install. I'll report back after I get it all installed. By the way, here in the US I picked up the digital download upgrade for $15% off using coupon newsletter15 at checkout

Well, won't be installing the 37GB of Digital Audio content today. With this being the grand opening of BFD3 the server must be overloaded. I can't get anything right now...... jammed up!
Downloading now, a little slow, but I should be able to test everything tomorrow.

What a pity ... Thanks for the advice regarding the work Lustar must do to incorporate BFD3. I guess I just sit and wait for now, o no, let's play drums!

Well if creating dsnds from BFD3 is your plan, don't rush to buy it. This one is definitely going to require quite a bit of work to get functioning. The program is so different from BFD2 I think Lustar would have to start from scratch with SDSE for a compatible version for this. So far I have not been able to create a usable dsnd. Mapping is one problem I think, but beyond that I will need to get in a little deeper because the new features which work for machine gun elimination also need to be adjusted or shut down to get good velocity layers with dynamics for dsnds. Hard to explain exactly but definitely some time testing and tweaking will be needed.

You can count me in, it would be nice to have BFD3 supported in SDSE 2.0.
For now SDSE 1.9 is released with support for Steven Slate Drums 4  :drum1:

Fantastic News! I'll assist with beta testing, tweaking ... etc. if/as needed.  I am really excited about this new BFD3. They have completely revamped the engine, new sounds. Rail from Platinum Samples, and John Emrich did all the recording .... and those 2 guys are two of the best IMO. I am still in the process of completing my downloads of the new sounds, but I have already installed BFD3 and imported my BFD1 and BFD2 sound/samples and this new engine makes the old sounds even better. I think this is a nice step forward for Fxpansion. I've always equated BFD with more real/raw drum sounds and SD2 with more polished/record ready processed sounds, but this BFD3 can do both very quickly and easily. Lots of new presets plus all the previous BFD1/2 presets and instruments can be used.
Every cymbal has all 3 zones Bell/Bow/Edge. Toms have Head/Rimshot/Rim click articulations. There is now the foot splash articulation on the Hi Hats. And all the included kits sound great. The cymbals are comparable to the Ziljian Digital Vault cymbals in sound quality ... IMO   ... J

Oh, and there is a Bosphorus Ice Bell .... that gives me a smile  :)

So I used SDSE today and built the whole DW Mardi Gras kit into dsnds. Until we have a new version of SDSE for it .... for now I just used the learn function in BFD3 to match up with my Reaper file. There are a few minor velocity tweaks that we will want to figure out .... for my taste the velocities on the instruments seem to be grouped heavily in the Higher levels with few lower level velocity hits. It may be some settings I need to find in the new BFD3 interface. But not bad for a first run... I had to do the Hi Hat several times, I think there was enough flutter/noise at the tail ends of the full open HH articulations making the hits overlap, for now I reduced a couple mixer sliders in BFD3 and added 8% dampening to the HH which did the trick.
