Damaged mesh head : which side of the beater should I use ?

Hi,

I've got my Drumit Five since 3 weeks and some strings
of my bass drum's mesh head are broken.
I turned my mesh head , so that the beater hits another
part of the mesh head.
Which side of my beater should I use to preserve my mesh head ?
The plastic side or the felt side ?
(I red that felt beaters could damage mesh heads, so I used the plastic side,
but now I don't know what to do anymore ; I'm not a heavy hitter and I
don't use double pedals).

Many drummers put an extra sticker (protection pad, kick pad) on the mesh head for that

I think: plastic because felt scrapes the head more
