it s none of my business , but here is my advice....

you could try to make a snare conversion , with a 12" 13" or 14" used snare and keep your 2box snare as fourth tom ...

converting a snare is quite easy  and cheap ( around 30€ with meshhead ), and a real one is better if you hit hard ... and i guess you do so ...

this is also a solution ... but it s as expensive as a 2box tom ...

since you openned my mind concerning this matter of using the 2box snare as a second floor tom, and buying a different snare of building my own, if i am to buy a new electronic snare, can someone recommend a good snare? better than 2box (if such snare exists).
i do not want small snare. i need at least same size as 2box snare, that is 12 inches, and i want it to have rim as well. if i decide to spend money, what can you people recommend?
are there other snares that can also offer positional sensing, or this cant happen due to 2box brain limitations?thank you

have a look at DIGITALDRUMMERMAG , there is a review about E-snares

i just came back from it, but there was also a note that the review was done not with latest firmware and so it is not so accurate. most e-snares had problems with rim in 2box brain

i will wait for another review. my biggest aim is propably to find a used pd-125x

one question. since there isnt much difference between pd-125 and pd-125xshould i buy pd-125? anyone used it before? it seems difficult to find.. pd-120 is also good, or the rim doesnt trigger that good? someone must have used them i guess

and how much do you thing a good price for a used pd-125 is? 100 euro? 150?

Because the 2box module doesn't support positional sensing and because of the improved responsiveness of the new OS, your choices are now much wider. You might, for example, look at the Diamond Electronic Drums for a custom drum that will perform perfectly with 2box. There's also the XM snare which is cheap and compact. For the price of a used PD-120. you'll get a new Diamond or XM.

my friend thank you for your answer
the 2box tom i would want to buy will cost me about 200 dollars (i speak in dollars as the prices you also have in dd is in dollars). i am from greece

so if i am to use my 2box snare as floor tom and get me a new snare, i need it to be better than 2box snare in terms of responsiveness, natural feel close to acoustic snare as possible (with not much rebound, but i suppose this has to do also with the mesh head but i already have a drum-tech design one) nice trigerring and rims that can get properly triggered and i am niot afraid if threy break.
the diamond one is a no go for me as its 390 dollars it costs, are a no go. i cant get that high

the price of xm, aka 275 dollars is the highest i will go. and i dont have they money right now, i might have to wait a bit, but i want to make sure i make a great choice

so, since you have played in many snares, from these choises
new xm
used pd-125 or pd 120
which one is better? are all 3 of the snares i mentioned way better than 2box snare? if yes, if the difference in feel is obvious, and will make me play with more happiness, i wil lspend the more money easily
now. between pd-125  pd 120 and xm what would your choise be?overall? (i know that if i get a pd i will get it used, i cant afford a new one) and because i do not know that. will a pd-125 in my 2box brain make a difference in trigerring than a pd-120, or should i just go for a pd-120 since it is cheaper?

and my last question is if the xm snare is available in europe, cause i googled it and didnt find it in a european site...
also, would i be able to find rim protectors? i have to be silent in my apartment...i know it is a drag. if i cant find them perhaps a pd-120 or 125 is better for me? which should i seek for in your opinion?

last but not least, if you say to me that 2box  snare is actually as good as the other snares, id stick with mine...

nowi shall try anf find you in facebook. you are an assett to the community,. many many thanx from the bottom of my heart

ps. i just checked ebay.comi can find a pd-120 used, really cheap(and i can get it with the help of a friend to greece for free... if it is as good as pd-125, i think we have a winner here..

The difference between the PD-125 and the PPD120 is the rim sensitivity. Offhand, I'd say the 120 is probably as good as the 2box, the 125 is better.
The good thing about the 120 is that you'll easily be able to sell it if you're not happy.
If you're really keen on an XM, I can arrange for one reasonably cheaply and even get it fitted with rim silencer. I'm sure that even with shipping, it will be less than $250. Send me a PM if you want to go that route.

BURNIN AMBITION

if pd-120 is as good as 2box snare, it wont do for me, id stick with a 2box snare.
concerning, a new xm with rim silencer and a used pd-125 , what would be better? is there real difference bewteen them or are they about the same?and in what ways would you say ther are better than 2box snare?

anyway, sorry for the many questions, i apologise. and you have a pm, and thank you so much for trying to help me andthe community in general

When we tested e-snares, the PD-125 was among the best performers, even on the 2box module. Sure, the rim sensitivity needed to raised a bit. It's well made, triggers beautifully and is easily maintained. You can always replace the cones when they wear out.
The only possible game-changer would be if the new 2box OS had some whiz-bang positional sensing that only worked with its own pads, but that has to be extremely unlikely.
Good luck with your choice!

BURNIN AMBITION

thank you very much!!! it is down to pd-125 and the xm for me and if i am to use the xm, i ll take you offer thank you so much. i checked the digital drummer site. you are from australia? if so, id have to check if customs are to be paid...anyway, i am gathering money, and will disturb you with an email soon i hope. thank you again and again and again and again
