BURNIN AMBITION

ok i formatted it, i created a kit with the biggest dsnds i had, and it played well i didnt notice any lag. so i guess it is official card and i was wrongly concerned. nevertheless i paid for the genuine thing, if i didnt want a retail package i could have gotten it cheaper. i wont complain to them but i hate it... thank you all guys!!!

ps. strange thing was that all files were copied except one. the biggest of the crashes i had and had to copy it separately. dunno why but all is well. thank you
2box, bengt, deve, digital drummer, Jman, Brian, Manfred thanx for everything

I hate to make this a little teaser, but I am busy, busy right now. So I will just post a pic of a row of SDHC cards that I have had in my possession. Every one of these cards work excellent with the 2Box module. Some you see already on the list, some are not on the compatibility list yet, some are getting harder to find, some like the SanDisk Extreme in the pic have either changed from the originals and no longer work, or are highly counterfeited now and not worth the trouble to buy. Allan (Digitaldrummer) and myself have compared notes on some of these. What I can say is besides a max of 1 second dif in the boot up time of the cards in the pic .... every one works excellent with no noticeable dif in performance playing even very large dsnd kits from the module.

Special thanks to Bengt for loaning me the ATP cards you see in the pic ....

I think MAYBE this one can be added to the list of compatible cards:

SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC 32GB Memory Card
http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/sd/extremepro-sdxc-sdhc-uhs-1-95mbs/?capacity=32GB

This particular Extreme Pro SDHC I got have been in use in a video camera for a bit less than a year.

This is what I did:

- Formatted the Extreme Pro SDHC with SD Formatter 4.0 (connected to Win 7 with a cheap SD card reader);

- Copied the exact content of the original card (ATP Pro Max 4GB) â€"which was almost full with two or three kits made with large .dsndsâ€"  to the Extreme Pro SDHC;

- Deleted DrumIt124.bin and update to DrumIt126.bin in the Extreme Pro SDHC;

- Installed the Extreme Pro SDHC in the module (regularly, no mod).

Everything works perfect after some fast solo playing, there is no variation in load time, always have been around 6 seconds.

Now I'm going to copy and test some .dsnds and build a couple of kits to see what happens, due to the high cost of those cards, I'm open to any suggestion about test scenarios in order to certify that it really works, I don't want you hating me if it gives any problem later :)

If your module boots up and ready to play in about 6 seconds that is a pretty good sign. One thing that tends to reveal if there is any latency problem is playing a reasonably large dsnd kit built from a VST ...... fast solo type play while continually doing foot chick (like 1/8 notes continually on the HH pedal). But without trying the card plugged into an SD extender cable it won't prove whether the card is compatible for those doing the extender mod. Some cards that are recognized directly in the module slot, do not even boot up in the extender.

Hi guys,
Last night I turned on my beloved module and to my horror after it booted up I could not get it to trigger any sounds. Even pressing the buttons had no effect. So I swapped out the Lexar 32Gb card (which has performed flawlessly for nearly a year) with the original 2box card and everything worked fine.
Breathing a sigh of relief that the module isn't faulty, I put the Lexar into my laptop and was able to see all the files and OS bins as normal.
Any thoughts or similar experiences as to what the problem is.
Cheers  :)

I have never had that happen. You might try to open the 2Box editor and see what happens with the 32GB card. See if sounds trigger from the laptop. Check to make sure outputs are assigned properly etc. If all fails reformat and reload files and try again.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.  :)

Hi!

Did you already solve the problem? Only thing I can think of (cause it happened to me a few months ago): make sure you didn´t turn off the "Local MIDI" option in the module (Unit-->MIDI--> mid button above display must read "ON")

cheers!

Hi Lutz, thats exactly what had happened. Of course I only discovered it after saving everything to the laptop and reformatting the disk ! Not sure how I managed to change the local setting although I have just started triggering my laptop with Sd2, Drumasonic and Steven Slate so maybey thats how it happened. Main thing is I don't have to buy a new Card. YAY!  ;D

Good call Lutz! I thought it might be one of the settings that shut off the output in the Unit settings, but couldn't remember what single change would cause it, you got it. From the manual:
LOCAL Turn LOCAL "Off" to disable the internal sound engine. Now the DrumIt Five only transmits MIDI messages and no longer triggers the internal sounds. This setting is useful if you want to control an external sound source without having the DrumIt-Five sound engine always playing along.

Good to know though that the Lexar card is not the problem ..... for all of us using that card or the other compatible card we use! We hope they will last a long time. J

I think you mentioned that your Lexar card stopped working after disconnecting it from your Mac. Just for curiostity, does your 32GB card have the metadata_never_index file on it?
http://fileextensionmetadataneverindex.com/
I know 2Box includes that file on the factory cards ... important only for 2Box users that use a Mac.

I know when I load my files or plug in my card to my card reader I am very careful to close all folders before removing the card. But there may be some additional precautions we should take .... not sure??

Interesting find, Jman. YOu recall that one of OEM cards didn't work at all. Well, that doesn't have the above file on it, but then, neither does my original 2box card - unless it's invisible to the Mac. Would you be able to send me a copy of the file and I'll try loading it manually on the OEM card to see if that makes it readable on the 2box.
thanks
Allan
