I think there is nobody at 2Box who will do further improvements :(
It seems the 2Box has reached End-Of-Development-State.
Just take a look at the Release-Dates of the Firmwares ...
then You will know how often they are making improvements.

fishmonkey

what? 2 Box have released many firmware updates with not only bug fixes but extra functionality. you can't reasonably expect them to release new firmware every month or so.

Just thought I'd mention to those who are conciderring getting the 32GB Lexar card that I have posted in this thread ..... They are fast becoming extinct. This is the natural progression of events. It isn't very easy to find the ideal card and once found within a few months the company will put out the next better, faster series .... and that faster series doesn't mean it will work better or work well with the 2Box module. There are still a few of the cards out there in retail packaging (the only way I would recommend purchasing) but they are quickly becoming extinct.

Still quite a few of the 16GB version of the same card too, but again those will go away also.

I won't be the Guinea pig for finding the next card that is ideal for the module since I have managed to get enough cards for myself to last me quite a while .... so someone else will need to "take one for the team!" ;D Clue:  Read Access Time (the lowest) is a critical yet rarely posted spec important to low latency play for our modules.
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Thank you for showing the way, JMan. The Lexar is a great card, boottime is less then 6 seconds on my rig, however, up to now less then 7 GB in use.

Glad it is working for you Murgen .... I wish they would keep putting out these cards! I did speak a little prematurely though about not taking one for the team again .... after my last post I did a little more research and noticed the Pretec SDHC Class16 (32GB, Class16) has Read Access specs almost as good as the Lexar ....

hard to tell if it will be a good one, but I ordered a couple to try for myself  :)

UPDATE: The Pretec card above is no good for us!

For those having trouble locating Lexars, I am continuing to get good performance from PNY "Professional" 32GB card (although mine is labeled "High Speed"). The Australian distributor claims these are the same cards - just different labels.

I found a Lexar in Duty Free Dubai - bought one for around $50 US.
I'll be testing it within the next few weeks when I decide to open up the module.

We lost quite a few posts about the compatible cards when the site crashed. We have run into a lot of Fake Lexar cards. The safest way to buy them now is in a Sealed Factory package. And look for a real photo of the package if possible.

Just to clarify .... All these Sandisk Extreme Cards (A21) and also the Extreme Pro card will work in the module and you will probably not even notice a problem on larger kits/files immediately ..... But if you play something like say a fast solo ... it will feel like you are screwing up after a little while on your timing ..... Latency.... the sounds can't keep up. You may get distorted pops, clicks ... you may not ... But the latency problem is there.

Hey Jman,

I have that same problem you described above with my internal (non-mod) 4gb-card: if I play fast doublebass together with fast ride-cymbal-stuff and snare/toms, I hera the sounds I hit a little laid back. Not that much, but enough to get confused while playing. (yes, I'm sure it's not my timing in THIS case...;)

is there anyone who experienced that as well?

By the way, JMan, you're doing a really great job here, I really benefited from lots of your posts here already. Thanks so much!!

cheers,
ToP

By Allan's recommendation I purchased one of these and received it today. It loads and performs just about identical to the Lexar cards I have been using and recommending. This PNY works quite well. And as a bonus they are very reasonably priced! I definitely recommend this as well as the Lexar I mentioned earlier for the 2Box module mod! The card is the one pictured below. PNY Professional 32GB SDHC Class 10 20MB/s (133X)

For those in the US. I picked up a couple of the PNY cards as in my post above today at my local Best Buy. They have them for $19.99 for the Black Friday weekend. J

Thanks Jman....just bought 2 of the 16's from Best Buy.  Figured I'd put my studio kits on one and live kits on the other.
