How popular is 2Box?

General question...

How popular is 2Box?  I'm going out on a limb and thinking not that popular.  Certainly not the same market share as Roland, Alesis and Yamaha...  I like the flexibility but to be honest, the default kits on my Alesis sound better to me.   Maybe it's got to do with my tech questions/issue which leads to my next question.

Next question...

Does anyone monitor the support@2box-drums.com email?  I've not had any replies to any of my support e-mails, so failing that, how does one get support?

Cheers and keep on drumming all!

They've been around since 2008, so while not setting the world alight, they've got a marketshare. They don't help themselves as far I am concerned with their marketing. Probably a thing of money (or lack of)

If you think Alesis kits sound better, I am not going to disagree, it's subjective. The key of both systems is that it's as good as you want it to be with the sample import thing.

However the strike has a MB limit of 200 (I think) where as the 2box doesn't. Okay the strike has some nice features, colour screen, physical faders, layering, sampling... which is nice, but personally I would take a 2box over a strike. That's just me.

As for the support email, I don't know. I have not tried in a long time to contact them. This is one of the things that they would seriously benefit with prompt responses.

Totally agree about subjective.

Funny, you're one of the few who responds on here, furthering my point about support but thank you welshsteve for your help thus far.

As you may have seen from my other posts I've experienced several issues.  So I've reset my system from original files several times.  At lease I think I did.  I downloaded the "DrumIt3_SL_Master 1.33" zip file on their support site....Unpacked it and then copied everything onto my unit over-writing everything.

When I start of the 2box Drumit Editor I keep getting errors that it can't load missing sounds.  I've searched the SL_Master 1.33 zip and it does not contain those sound file so I get those sounds from the Drumit5 source files and this fixes a couple load errors.  Then switch kits within the editor to get more missing sound files.  I've loaded 3 different kits within the editor at random generating 3 different sets of missing sound file errors.

When I look through the Speedlight 1.33 zip download these sound files don't exist which means they're not in the source files provided by 2box.

Ultimately, 2Box, please let me know what is the correct download file for the Speedlight kit because when I load the editor it's using the "Speedlight.dkit" file so it is for the Speedlight kit but it's missing several sounds...

How do I reset to factory default if it's missing sounds when I use the "DrumIt3_SL_Master 1.33" zip file.

Cheers...

I have a suspicion that 2box don't ever come on here. However one of the original guys is on here and is a great source of information. Hopefully he will see this and will chime in to help out.

I remember the missing sound thing when I had a 2box set up, in my case I didn't care as I was only really using a few of their library sounds and just did my own from painstakingly sampling (SDSE wasn't an option for me at the time) each drum in a DAW. I got pretty fast at it in the end, but still, not as fast as "one-click"

I do try and keep this forum going, ironically not having a 2box module myself, though I do intend to grab one when I have freed up some cash. Got A LOT of surplus e-drum gear floating about doing nothing. But as for your issues, I don't recall them off the top of my head. But I really hope you can get something resolved!

Hi. What 2box are up to, I have no idea. Also, I have not been involved in DI3 or 5mk2, so no help there I'm afraid.
Basically they work as the first DI5, kits refer to sounds. They can be stored in any folder(s) you want on the sd card. If the sound is missing it shows the name, and a ? mark too on the KIT DRUM page. You have to find it on 2b dl web.
Best, Deve.

Hi Guys,

First, thanks for jumping on and trying to help.  It is appreciated.

Sadly, it's dissapointing that 2Box doesn't monitor this forum nor respond to support emails sent directly to them.

I understand the sounds file structure and have gone ahead and downloaded all sounds from the sound page of their site.  However, what's really annoying is that I've reset my Speedlight kit to factory defaults a couple of times now.  (deleting all files on the module including the init files and re-installing from scratch (from website)).  It's very odd that out of the box, it's missing sounds.  Not only do you get the errors in the editor but when using certain kits with missing sounds (which you won't know if not using the editor), some pads don't make any sounds while others will give some sort of feedback/buzz...

I'll keep at this and try to figure out how to get 2Box support but again, thanks all!

Cheers!

Hi!

As an old 2box collector of sounds...I made a quick job and pulled together all the missing *.dsnd sounds in the DrumIt3_SL_133.zip collection. Hope that this is ok with 2box Corp from a copyright standpoint. (Please notify me otherwise) They have been on earlier 2box sound images - but seems to been taken off for some reason.

You can download the zipfile here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1nu8tvyb1a2xtt4/DI3SL133_Missing.zip?dl=0

Just unpack the files to the 2box SD Card and place them in a e.g. \missing directory in the root. The 2box module or the 2box editor will find them in the structure anyway.

I too have all, or at least 99% of the old sounds from as far back as 2010.

You're doing a factory instal I assume to sell on the di3?

Our friends at 2box got the same info last week - so they will probably correct the error on the master on their website. Both the images for Drumit Three and the speedlight have faults.

Mr80s

Thank you for taking the time to put together the files.  Appreciated!

No, I'm not selling mine either (just got it) and was doing factory resets and noticed the bunch of missing files which caused me to scratch my head.

Anyway, appreciated the file.

Cheers folks!
