The OS for the fame modul which is a modified drumit 3 is now available to download from here: https://www.musicstore.de/de_DE/EUR/Fame-Hybrid-Pro-Sound-Modul/art-DRU0039596-000
If you're feeling adventurous and want to try it on your 2box module go ahead.

Not sure what's going on but I don't see any mention of a software download on that page? I changed the language to English, can't imagine that would break it lol. Is there a direct link or any mention of what is changed?

Edit: Apparently changing the language did in fact hide the download. Very odd, but got it now.

Well my 2box Drumit5 MKII runs just fine on 1.40.0.

There is now an SCHAN On/Off in the UNIT MIDI.

I can't see any other new settings in the UNIT or KIT menus. No new FX, Hihat feels the same, etc. No noticeable difference in triggering except my crashes did need adjusting. Everything triggers very well I must add.

I need to test this also!

I would estimate that there will be a new editor also attached to this OS...and vendor.

If Cross stick is finally recognized by MIDI I will be very, very happy. This may not actually show up as a new option if it is tied to the main snare or rim note numbers; it may be one note further. I will have to test and see...

Karbonfaiba

Well here's some good news; 2box now sends aftertouch!

Depends on which notes you use, it works in SD3 with:

Crash 1: F4
Crash 2: F5
Ride: B4

Still can't identity what SCHAN does but it's certainly not XStick or Positional Sensing (on note 6) still only 2 zone snares with 1.40.0

Interesting. 2Box has told me directly (as well as a few others) that MIDI cross stick would definitely be in the next official firmware. We will see. I don't know why this site has it posted before 2Box themselves or if it is even finished (I would assume not since they haven't posted it...)

SCHAN on/off could be "Single channel" MIDI so you use one channel only for all drums/cymbals. Can you describe what you see in the MIDI page?

The manual is available to download but only in german, it seems to be the first version though since it says on MIDI "Update zu Punkt 8.9 MIDI:
Der Midi Player mit seinen Funktionen wird erst zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt mit einem Update des OS in vollem Umfang zur Verfügung stehen. Momentan sind nicht alle MIDI Funktionen fehlerfrei nutzbar. Das aktuelle Betriebssystem steht Ihnen jederzeit zum Download auf musicstore.de zur Verfügung"....

which roughly translates to: "MIDI section is still under development and not all MIDI settings are working, we will release an OS update soon" the module shipped initially with 1.38 so I think the update is 1.40 I posted so all MIDI settings should be working now.. the manual hasn't been updated.

Sadly MIDI Xstick separate note is still not there...

Karbonfaiba

SCHAN is on the same page where you select the MIDI channel for the module (1-16)

I tested more with Raw MIDI monitor but it really didn't seem to do anything, on or off. It's not a omni channel mode but I haven't tested the MIDI input though.

Given it's been a few working days and the 1.40 OS isn't official, I don't think it's the final code anyway. It could take months more waiting if that's true.

I don't know, but I'm not expecting a lot at the moment based on their current online activity. They don't seem to give very helpful responses to support requests, if they respond at all, and their Facebook page mostly consists of re-posts of users' drum videos. I don't know when the last official OS update was released, but it has indeed been a while because I got my unit about a year ago and the current version was already out then. Of course the Fame OS version would suggest that their development isn't entirely dead, but it's quite hard for an outsider to tell what's going on with them. I guess the pandemic might have caused problems for their business as well.

I think 2Box has been bought by musicstore (dv247) and as such they're dead, the main 2box distributor is hyperactive based in Germany so they could have made the deal easily and in german with musicstore, so until we finally get an official statement from 2box on the state of things we could just all but speculate...

Every time I send 2box an email asking if they're still in business they replay every single time : "we're alive and well, we're working on new exciting things" but those "exciting new things" never see the light of day explicitly...

I was considering getting the "2Box Drumit 5 MK2 Limited Edition Set" which was supposed to be limited to 100 Sets, well it hasn't been sold out yet since its appearance 1 or 2 years ago I don't remember exactly... but at this point it would just be a decoration item on a museum, in a cabinet of edrum curiosities...

So 2box, if you read this, give us some light on your status please, we're your only customers, nobody talks about you like us in this forum, if you're dead well say it so and move on... enough is enough...

ANGR77

I think You are wrong in your estimations and what 2box is up to. (But I have of course not any insider information) However, There have been discussions lately about a new OS beta...and the Fame thing was only another OEM vendor for 2box.
