Pintech ride not triggering bell zone

Hi Everyone,

I hope you can help me, I am struggling to solve this

I just bought a Pintech 16" ride with two zones. It triggers zone 4 (bow) correctly, but doesn't trigger zone 1 (bell). After hitting the bell very hard (way harder than I would while playing), I was able to trigger zone 8 (edge). I used the level display to see which zones were being triggered

I have as settings:
- Trigger type CyPS (but also tried all others)
- Gain 5/H
- Curve POS1
- File I am using to test (among others): Swiss PR 22 Ride

Thank you in advance for any help! I was a long time ddrum4 user and just joined the 2box train recently, among other things because of the equally string community that has been formed.

I had the 18" Visulite version brand new out of the box and I had the same issue (needing whack it hard to register a trigger) I decided to sell. Total waste of money, I was told by Pintech it would work fine with Roland Modules and I have in fact seen a couple of videos drummers using them with Roland modules and they certainly seems to work a lot better than it did with the 2box module.

For reference, it doesn't work very well with a Pearl Mimic pro either. This doesn't help you of course, but it should indicate that it's a compatibility issue rather than a fault with either.

BTW, you do have the 2 output type of ride cymbals yeah? i.e. Roland style meaning you need 2 cables for 3 zone function? If so, you would probably have better results with trigger type CyPSB! The one you're using is meant for 2zone crash cymbals. Rides are known as 3 zones cymbals. 1. bow 2. edge/choke 3. Bell. sorta thing!

You can get 3 zones with 2box cymbals on a single TRS cable or Yamaha cymbals on a single TRS cable (different trigger types for each though) but not Roland.

Thanks. Unfortunately I tried all the trigger settings, but it doesn't help. Any other suggestions?

You say 2 zones in the first post...then it will be real hard to trigger 3 zones...

Which Pintech do you have? They can all be bought with 1, 2 or 3 triggers....

Hi Anders,

Thanks for your message. I have a Pintech PC Series Dual Zone Ride 16" w/ bell. I have tried all trigger types that 2box has in the unit settings, but none of them triggered the bell.

Zone 4 (bowl) is triggered normally. At times, if I hit the bell really hard, I am able to see in the unit that zone 8 (edge) is triggered and I hear that sound. However, I can never manage to trigger Zone 1 (bell)

Well, I've had some improvements. By increasing the gain (of both zones), I started to trigger zone 1 (bell) erratically, together with zone 8. I also took out the protection pad below the bell and gently pushed the bell trigger, perhaps this also helped. Then I edited the ride dsnd with dsoundtool and replaced the sound of zone 8 (edge) with the bell sound. It seems I have a reasonable bell now, although I still have to test it properly
