I just recently got my hands on a 2box Drumit Three. I haven't even had time to take it out of the box and going through some GAS with my setup, moving things around. I am trying to decided on the best hihat for the 2box Drumit Three. I currently own the 2box Hihat, anybody have a recommendation on what setup would perform the best (money is no object :P)?

I would like something that is rubber to keep the noise down but i realize 2 piece hihats are kind of noisy as well. I would also like something bigger then 12" too. I really wish the ATV hihat worked with the module but it seems there will be compatibility issues with it. It seems no matter what there will have to be a comprise somewhere and i'd rather it not be with the performance of the hihat.

These are the options i am considering:

Go-edrum controller with a bigger size top cymbal, such as a CY13 or CY14, ATV 14" Crash...
VH11
VH12
VH13

I would consider the Yamaha RH135 but i believe there is a hardware limitation to the number of "steps" for samples and don't want to have this limitation. I can also just stick with the 2box hihat since there are all 12" sizes anyway but hear the performance is better with the roland hihats.

So the question is, what is the best hihat setup for the 2box drumit three? help!!

Thinking out loud i wonder if i got a VH11 controller and clutch how well that would work with a 14" ATV cymbal... might need an extra felt or something but do you think this is doable? I am sure nobody has tried this setup yet.

I am just looking to match as i want to get the 16" ATV cymbals as crashes and 18" for my ride :)

Hi!

It looks like my VH-13 conversion module works ok with ATV HH and Drumit Three...some more testing needed to find the optimal settings...but then we will launch it as a working solution.

That's good to know, thanks for the heads up. I can't wait to see the final outcome and if you are going to post any video demos  :)

The ATV hats look great, except the cost. Eeeesh. But 360 degree triggering makes it very tempting. It should be standard on cymbals, but it's not.

Yeah, it is very expensive especially since there isn't much a used market for ATV yet like Roland. I agree, there should be 360 degree triggering standard and there should be more 14" hihat's available. I can't believe how finding real sizes are still so limited but at least thats starting to change. The tech used in most products is a basic piezo, nothing much has changed in all the years edrums have been around, the least they can do is offer larger sizes.

Can someone explain why 360° is usefull for a e-hihat ?  Even for a cymbal i cant see the point ...

Do you guys run around your kit while playing or what ? :)    :drum2: :drum2:

Sarcasm not necessary. Because they move while playing. My jobeky ones do, the 2box ones did (though it didn't matter as they had 360 triggering) but of course it wasn't a good system. I have mates with the Roland ones and they say the same.

IMO 360° is not really a solution , and it would be better to fix the rotation issue , because someday the cable or jack will fail or give false contacts & triggering  problems ...

True but haven't had that problem even with the 360 degree triggering on the 2box cymbals (yet...) and no anti-rotation stopper. The benefit of 360 degree triggering is also no "hotspots" or decreased sensitivity in certain areas, so if the cymbal rotates, even somewhat it won't be any less sensitive where it is hitting or if you hit away from the area of the cymbal that triggers best. There is also even "wear" if you want to to rotate to the other side as well. I think it's just nice overall to have the option of triggering anywhere and choking anywhere on the cymbal without worrying about it.
