I am curious what you think of the ne-10 also  are you getting the ne-1 for the rack legs too?

Murgen

I rebuild my setup.

On the floor carpet-tiles with the rubber square on top and a Roland drummat as carpet.

The good news is that the 2Box foot and the pedal fit easily on the NE10.

The bad news is that the kick-pad is attached to the rack, together with my extra bar to fixate the kick-pad (stop the wobbling), the vibrations are transmitted via the 4 legs of the rack too. So, my family thinks the sound is less but still present.

I will post pictures and ordered 4 NE1's too. Will be continued.

If you hadn't already ordered the Roland isolation products I might suggest the tennis ball isolation platform. Threads have gone around for years with lots of favorable results. Here is a very nicely detailed thread at vdrums.com, with nice pics:  http://www.vdrums.com/forum/general/suggestions/40599-tennis-ball-impact-noise-isolating-platform
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

I read about it and considered it.

I have two problems. First tennis-balls will start to leak in the end, there are better carriers.

Second problem is that the drum-cabin has already a floating floor with 2 layers of MDF, covered with sound isolating tiles and carpet on top. The builder and I made 2 huge mistaks back in 2004 ... that floor floats on PUR tiles (10 cm thick) and that is the biggest mistake ever. Should have been sand or rubber. It is almost impossible to correct the mistake except by destroying the floating floor and do it all over again.  :'(

Second mistake is that the cabin in on the 2nd floor of the house, under the roof and the builder assumed the outer-wall did not needed any sound isolation because there was only air on the other side. The wall acts as a resonating speaker-board, I can here the piano played on the ground-floor when I'm in my cabin and they hear my acoustic kit before I started playing e-kits. That problem was solved by using the 2Box but it is a leak like the PUR tiles.  :'(

Building another floating podium on a floating floor makes me bump my head against the ceiling, I'm afraid.

I'm happy with the drum cabin because it takes away all the noise except the kick resonating through the floor.

Hey Murgen, My son and I built a drum wotj w pieces of acoustic glued together om top of Platfoam which have greatly reduce noise problems in my second floor condo
I  got the design from an article in  sound on sound magazine. They used a product called regufoam 150 instead of the Platfoam

Here is a schematic view of the floating floor. If we only used sand or rubber to support it, it would have been perfect.

NE-1's are in back-order. The combination of NE-10 and all rack-legs on those NE-01 dampers is attempt number 1, attempt 2 will be a platform with dampers underneath.

Murgen, I have a Tama speed cobra hi hat and double bass pedals. Will both the hi hat and left bd pedal fit on one ne 10 mat or would I need 2 on that side ?

Cant see almost 300 for these mats
I use kriggs now
Maybe I will leave well enough alone. I was thinking I might trigger  my real 20 ludwig kick, but by the time I am done even doing it myself,  I will be in my pocket for another 200 and change. The other thing is, my downstairs neighbor is  cool right now. And I should keep it that way

Here are the pictures. You can also see the extra bar keeping the kick-pad in place.

I don't think the NE-10 can support 2 pedals next to each other ...

PS ... I cleaned up and have to strap the wires together again ... bit messy on this pics.

The NE-1 rubbers have been delivered and tested.

NE-1 is more rigid and heavier than I expected. That is good news. I removed the 2Box feet and put the legs on the NE-1 dampeners. Together with the NE=10 the rack and the kick are now isolated from the floor.

We tested this for about 30 minutes and yes, the claim from Roland is true, it takes away about 75% of the contactsound. You can hear the kick downstairs but barely audible and it blends now with the background. My family considers this as a huge improvement. So, test successful but next time I will built a better isolated floating floor first. :)

One final note, The rack-pipes are resting now on top of the NE-1's, I must keep an eye on this to make sure the edges do not cut into the top of the NE-1's.

Try splitting a section of fuel line and putting it over the sharp edge of the tube. Same basic idea as using fuel line for a rim silencer for snare. This should keep the tube from cutting into the NE-1.
