Several issues and a couple of questions! Help please :)

Good day all. Having recently switched to the 2 Box (from an expanded TD10), and now, having finally had some time to play around, I now have some questions and a fair few issues that need ironing out if possible, so please bear with me on what may be a bit of an essay, and I hope you can help out :)

Just to start, I'll list the set up I have.
I am using a Hart Pro Snare, 5 Diamond Drums toms, a DIY Kick (standard crossbar and piezo design), the 2Box HH pad on a remote pedal, a Yamaha PCY150 Ride, and 4 Yamaha PCY 135 Crashes. All of this is mounted on a Hart rack.

So, issue 1. Crosstalk. It's horrendous, even with every pad set with crosstalk cancel at max I get terrible crosstalk from the cymbals. I am getting a bell sound with my snare, and crashes and swells from the toms or crosstick on Tom 1. I had absolutely no crosstalk on the TD. I have tried moving cables away from each other, to no avail, so I am a bit of a loss. Nothing on the rack moves, it's solid, so any thoughts appreciated.

Issue 2. Splitting. I have successfully split the Tom 4 output, so that it has Tom 4 and 5 (5 on the rim), and so, having used the 3 cymbal outputs for 2 of the crashes and the ride, I wanted to split the Snare and one of the other Toms to put the other 2 cymbals on. I have the correct splitter cables (1/4" Stereo to twin 1/4" Mono) but no matter what I try to set in the module (either manually or in software on the Mac) I do not get the right sounds on the split. In fact, when I split the snare I got snare on the cymbal. I had it set to rim trigger, and assigned a crash sound to the cymbal on the rim, but still no good. With the Tom that I split I was just getting bell sounds on the cymbal, no crash. I may well have missed something in set up (because it's frustrating!), so any advice is welcome. I did look on the forum, and read Jerry's advice about it, but it made no difference. I have actually had to reset the entire module and start over, it went a bit mad, and I have now resorted to splitting my cymbal outs with stereo splitters, so I get 4 working and chokeable cymbals, but with only 2 different sounds between them (no big issue atm).

Issue 3. Miniscule storage! I honestly didn't think that 4GB would be used up so quickly! I barely have any sounds on there (and have removed and swapped some already) and yet I have 2% free, which means I can't many sounds on there and means I am going to have to play around a lot with tweeking sounds based on existing. Is there any way of increasing internal storage? I have read that it's possible but voids warranty?
Following on from that, can I remove all the sample loops etc, and percussion sounds, just to free up some more space. I would back them up first of course.

I think that will do for now. Thanks for reading  :patbat2box:

It sounds like your Threshold values need to be raised on your offending cymbals .... Ie ... crank the threshold up ... the lowest value is something like -48 ..... raise it so that you still have decent response on lighter hits, but not so low that it crosstriggers from other hardware. And be sure to put your snare on a separate snare stand if it is not already. You may also need to lower your gain on the cymbals that are crosstriggering. Go through your cymbals one by one and tweak them. Like I have mentioned before I use my own drums and cymbals, no stock pads at all, and I have none of the problems you are talking about, so hopefully you can find good results through some parameter tweaks. Look to others that have the exact kind of pad you are using with the module .... hopefully someone here has your same setup and can advise ...

As far as splitting.... Push and hold the More button along with the tom button or snare button you are splitting. That puts you to the Rim .... Then push Unit and set the pad type for the pad you are using for for that zone instead of the rim... Set your pad type and appropriate parameters for that particular pad. I use my Rims for splashes or Chinas .... those do not have built in Bell sounds in the dsnds so you don't get bell instead of crash .... but if memory serves me correctly if you choose CY-Cup for your pad type you should get no more bell sounds, just bow sound of the crash dsnd you chose. Use this same method ... Ie push and hold the more button along with the tom or snare button (then release) when you go to change your sounds for that zone.... this locks the zone so you will only be changing the instrument assigned to that Rim zone.

As far as memory, the card extender mod is simple as can be. It is non intrusive IMO ... I could reverse it, remove the extender and put the module back to stock in 15 minutes. All it is ... is a cable that plugs into the SDHC socket, a simple extension cable if you will .... But that cable give you access to change memory cards at will .... from 4GB to 32GB just like that.... but, as you say, do at own risk ... even though there is little risk at all IMO .... J
I could tell you where to stick that piezo! :D ;)

Thanks Jerry.
I will tinker with the cymbal settings for sure then. I have the threshold set as high as poss at the moment, so that is clearly the issue.

The snare is on a separate stand. I have tried this with the "more" button, still to no avail (I read your advice before), but I suspect it may be the dsnd I have picked causing an issue as well. I'll have another play.

The extension is of massive interest. Where can I get one please :)

I'll report back later with regard to other findings. Thanks again.

I think you are in the UK? This would prolly be the easiest/closest extender for you:
