QuoteAnd yes, one of the reasons DrumIt doesn't support external cards is because of this kind of trouble.

So where do we put our own samples then?
I guess the reviewer of the magazine Digital Drummer was right: 2Box might end up being a "Empty sound" system, instead of "open sound"........

Ultimately, is my fault for formatting the card in windows and mac... I think that messed up the partitions..
Will try again with ubuntu today, using a sd card reader.

final edit: Nope, there's no way I can bring the sd card back to life... I'm screwed then....

So, here I am trying to replace the stock 4gb sd card with a genuine transcend class 10 32 gb. I'm using a mac and virtual windows 7 64 bits running on parallels. Some weird stuff happening:

- I didn't format the sdcard the first time I plugged it in to my mac to copy the contents of the stock sdcard
- I just copied everything before I put in the module, everything was fine
- This morning, when trying to transfer some dsnd's from my mac to the module I get the following error: " The         contents of the file you are trying to copy cannot be written or read, error -36"
- I click ok, and the file was copied but it's zero kb...
Starting to panic...
- I read on the forum that maybe the card needs to be formatted, so I downloaded the sdcard formatter recommended by deve loper and fired up windows, put the card and format it.... result: the card is succesfully formated but it's now only 2.2 gb! :o
- I then installed ubuntu to see whether the rest of the space is on a hidden partition somewhere but no.... gparted says it's only 1 partition of 2.2 gb...

-shut down windows 7 and ubuntu.
- Check on the transcend website for the serial number and there it was: "this serial number is genuine"
-Removed and inserted the card on my mac again
- Now, disk utility says the card it's "Apple SDXC reader media" size 32.46! :o with one volume fat32 of 2.2 gb
So I thought I solved the problem, copied some files to the card and deleted them and everything works well again... until I opened the module and replace it....
Now I get a bunch of "fat" and  "No OS" errors....

Can I send the card to Sweden or wherever 2box format them? Because it seems that Mac OS, sdcards formatted in windows and 2box bootloaders and Os don't play well together....

Have a nice weekend everyone :patbat2box:

Setup guides and tips / Re: Kick Drum Setup...
May 27, 2011, 10:40:04 AM
I have a Mk2 kick and had low volume issues as well. In the end all I did was to remove the foam and the kick triggers now perfectly!

I think the foam is important in the toms and snare to give more stability and protect the o-rims, but since in the kick there are no o-rims or plastic ring, well, no need for the foam there I reckon....

So, to all who have a Mk2 kick and low volume issues, remove the foam completely and you'll notice the difference right away! No need to change settings, I have mine on 9 gain and -36 Threshold. :patbat2box:

I just removed the foam as well and all my low volume issues are gone! so I think the foam is just there to give more stability and protection to the o-rims in the snare and toms, but you'll never hit a kick on the rim do you? :P so no need for foam there I reckon...

kick pedal is a must to change. that goes without saying. i sold my old pearl eliminator 2002c and i am waiting in a few days my new pearl eliminator 2002b

i am not the expert here but if you cant get triger with these settings you also have a sensor problem. go to the distributor mate.let them check it. you should be able to triger the same sound as to when you touch the kick button. if you dont get this something is wrong...

Definitely not getting the same sound as when I click the kick button..... the rest of the pads yeah but the kick is really really quiet.
Edit: I just disassembled the kick to have a look at the sensor:

both 2 cables are soldered, but I notice the foam on the left side is a bit longer and touches the sensor? Maybe I cut a bit to avoid it touching the sensor?
Final Edit: Well I removed the foam completely and the kick now triggers perfectly so the foam is definitely the culprit here.....
remove it now if you have trigger issues!

I've been pretty happy with several sets of toms, a few snares, and one HH I've built so far. The tails getting cut off the individual hits as I mentioned above has rendered my cymbals unusable so far. I have been going through the presets and using kits/instruments with the presets .... One thing I do when recording any toms or kicks is turn the bottom snare wire OFF before recording those.... at least so far, as I didn't like the resulting sound on the first few toms or kicks I did with that on ... I also check the panning in the mixer and pan the way I have things set up before recording.... I've recorded with all bleeds on ... bleeds off ... I'm still learning, but definitely not sorry about going this route. Once I can get dsnds with the waves in tact I know it can be killer .... I know this especially because of the NDK dsnds I have already built previously where the WAVs did not get cut short in the dsnds.
Yeah, I might try NDK as well. I'm not sorry neither and I see a lot of potential but the learning curve is pretty steep for those not familiar with recording or mixing, like myself.

Are there any improvements in 1.0.1 over the 1.0 version?
Because the mac version is still 1.0 whereas the windows version is 1.0.1...
Don't tell me is just 1/100  ::)

I loaded my first samples from superior and I'm a bit disappointed by the results... with headphones from the computer they sound really good but once on the module they're just not there......
I don't know, many factors are involved, like mixer settings, envelope, bouncing to 24...
it's not just as straightforward as I thought :-\
I would gladly pay for toontrack and bfd samples ready to load on the orange box, but at this point, one needs a audio engineering degree to achieve a decent sound..in my personal case of course.

i am known to have probs with my kick put normally gain at 10 thres at -33 and curve at normal should work fine.
Nope, I put those values and still can't hear the kick loud enough by soft hits, only by VERY hard hits, and still....
Replacing the stock hihat stand with another from tama or gibraltar will give you more control over the spring tension and pedal positioning, I'd say it's worth it. Same goes for the kick pedal of course.

mk2 kick pad should work without needing it to be in max2
mk1 kicks had low volume(some of them)

also where the hell did you get the second tennis ball beater? i also need one they had only one in the box

Could you enlighten me on that? I did try it to get it right with curve normal but I couldn't get it to sound right....
Can you share your trigger settings?
I'm using OS 1.1

It seems to me as normal snare stand would be a bit problematic because of the double bass?

Exactly, a standard snare stand renders a double pedal unplayable in this situation...
And I bought a used kit (minus the module, hihat and cymbals) that's where I got my second ball

I unplugged and plugged all midi and usb cables again and boom! problem solved! maybe I didn't plug the midi cable right the first time, all good now!

well, except for the mapping......  :P Will need to map from scratch.... luckily I don't have 24 pads....

So I reckon the spirit and purpose of this topic have vanished....
The original purpose was to gather 10 people to get a discount on NDK....

I have Superior Drummer and BFD Eco. I want to trigger some sounds just to see how it works with the 2box, I know the 2box sounds are great but I want to try VST's as well. ::)

That being said, I plugged the whole rig Midi out 2box>Midi in usb Audio interface>usb audio interface to mac, launched SD2, selected my audio interface under the midi and audio prefs and....Bang....
:o All I could hear was a terrible noise when hitting a pad!
I can see the midi section on BFD Eco and SD2 lighting up when I hit the pad so midi is not the problem..Turned off local control as well. I tried every midi channel in the module from 1 to 16 and still the same...
Any advice? maybe I should change something in the fader or mixer prefs?

You can see the velocity for each sample in dsoundtool. Just click a layer and it will display a list.
