Setup guides and tips / Re: The BFD2 thread

Check that the MIDI note from the cymbal isn't also mapped to the kick, before creating your own map I would Clear all other assigns (i don't know if you did this)

OK, recording with the MIDI outs will record all the MIDI data sent from the unit. It will play back the Drumit if you have MIDI going from Logic back to the brain, but you will need to feed the signal audio signals either back into Logic, into a mixer with the PC connected as well, or use a VSTi.

Recording from 1+2 will mean you have a wav file that you will not be able to seperate.

It's the factory settings what is on the brain when it ships... holds all kit info, velocity's, gains, MIDI notes etc etc...

I have made changes to a lot of the .dkit file and then successfully renamed .dkitold and re loaded the original and this 'restores' to factory settings.

However, try this at your own risk, I am not responsible if it fails. :)

I'm sure I read somewhere that even thought the DrumIt does come in 2Box's this isn't the reasoning behind the name.... Maybe Deve could shed some light....

I have a FireWire Terratec Phase 88 Rack which was all I could afford when I needed a portable solution. This has 2x MIDI ins/outs and digital ins/outs...

Looks like it has been superceded by this:

which is the PCI version not sure about FireWire...

Try eBay also, I found some 8-way looms jack to jack for cheapness which are really good...

Not yellow I hope

Haha!

Can I be quite ignorant maybe and ask, Sami, why you would like rubber heads? What is the difference in playability and do you prefer them? I have never used rubber heads adn would have thought they have quite an unnatural feel to them when playing?

???

I'll settle this! haha  ;D

I am a very VERY hard hitter - certainly on an acoustic kit, so it must transpire slightly on an eKit.

I can safely say that if built properly, there are absolutely no issues with the rack at all. You get a very minimal wobble, like you do with toms etc on an acoustic kit, so why should eKit be any diffferent, it doesn't move, it doesn't fall over, it doesn't loosen. Even the HH stand and snare stand are solid.

When I play live on acoustic kit, a lot of the time in a small venue the engineer doesn't put any of my snare through the PA, I have even been asked to not play as hard - yet me snare does not budge on the standard 2box stand.

Just ensure you have spent the time to build the rack properly before saying that the rack is bad.

The only thing that could improve would be a strut bar that connects to the kick drum to stop rebounce.

Stability isn't an issue. I'm also on a 1st Generation kit - and even the HH was fine even though I do use my Pearl one (better than leaving it lying around and I am use to it)

So there you go!  :drum3:

i dont like the idea of plastic drums... sounds much cheaper and less durable. polycarbonate is just common drinking-bottle-plastic. If the polypads are worse in any way i dont know, but aluminum just sound sturdier.
i am glad i got my hands on the aluminum release. Does anyone know if there is any difference in looks between the two pads... i am planing to expand and i guess i have to get plastic pads from now on

I've had some chat with Scottie about the pads as was concerned that the aluminium may react different to the poly-carbs, there's absolutely nothing aesthetically wise (you can't even tell) and they function exactly the same.

Now I don't know if either carry a manufacturers warranty in event of failure, I don't know the lifetimes of alu vs poly. And obviously playing style would effect that?

I'm sorry you think it was stupid but it is what I think they look like and I am sure others. It doesn't do you any good to have your head in the sand.

Oh yeah, sorry I just took another look and they DO look like 'little orange pussy pads'. Hmmmm.

Anyway, no more talk of stuff like this, lets stick to the topic of the thread. If you want to bash the colour scheme (again) start your own thread.

No you're not alone, but make comments like you just have, and not stupid ones like you did on the 4th. This is an adult forum for adult speak. Please keep it that way.

If we want to talk about looks? I think it far surpasses the look of the e-pro - lots of drummers will favour the colour and lots won't.

I know you guys are a little touchy when I knock the look of your little orange p**sy pads , but where in my post did you get the idea I don't demand the highest  sound quality?
