H/M/L in the UNIT settings is for bell gain. While adjusting that does have an effect on the MIDI output - it's used to fix the bell not triggering at all, rather than a control for velocity curve.

EZDrummer3 does not allow you to adjust velocity curve per zone, but Superior Drummer 3 can do this. Use SD3 if you want to fix small things like this as you can use any EZX library with it anyway.

Also bare in mind, it's just as likely a bell being too loud or soft compared to it's bow it's probably an intrinsic characteristic to that ride cymbal.

Slightly off topic but this is the most recent SDSE thread:

Does anybody know if Lustar went on holiday since the 12 May?

I'm worried because he is usually very quick to respond to emails and 3 weeks have passed without any contact, feels odd.

SD Express sure looks tasty doesn't it?

That marriage with PCIe 4.0 and NVMe is ideal. SSD like bandwidth in SD Card form factor is crazy, hopefully IOPS come along for the ride too.

I would have no idea if it would be easier to develop AHCI for MSATA or NVMe for SD Express at this stage. The Mimic uses the former and it fairs perfectly well, but its an expensive module still, any cost savings made on the older SATA interface seems to have been made redundant by it's construction costs. However if both memory storage options provide the performance, I would pick the least troublesome.

Ah that's good to know dtree, I thought they might be M5 after looking at some M size comparisons. But all the shopping sizes I searched gravitated towards M4 as the most common. That's Swedish design I guess!

I'm having just as much trouble finding alternative encoder knobs to upgrade the front.

They appear to be M4 stainless steel screws approx. 15mm total length, mushroom crosshead, 9mm head diameter, thread pitch should be 0.7 (coarse) although I cannot verify this, similar image results match closely.

Do you have a spare 32GB SD card you can use?

What I did is format a 32GB card using the SD Memory Card Formatter here: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
Quick Format, Format Size Adjustment Off, 32K cluster size.

Then I cloned the partition of that 32GB onto the 64GB card with Minitool. I definitely didn't do a full sector clone, as I saved a lot of time (and memory life) just cloning the partition structure. After that finished I dragged just the 2box OS file and config onto in and tried booting.

If that boots, then go back to extend the partition size to 60GB (real size is  57.9 GB)

Test again, if that works, drag the sound libraries over and you're done!

When you say the Canvas Go Plus 64GB Micro SD card didn't work; do you mean the 2box module doesn't boot with it?

Remember that you still need to follow the formatting guidance for any card over 32GB... which is; creating an image of your stock 32GB card, cloning that image to your 64GB card, then extending it's partition up to the 60GB maximum - the 60GB hard limit goes for any 128GB and 256GB SD cards as well.

I suggest you cycle through the pad types in the UNIT menu on the relevant input until you find the one that works with the most zones. e.g. CyPS might be the one

I would ignore the marketing blurb about also being a (3 zone) ride cymbal; if it only has 1 ribbon switch on the edge, that's 2 zones maximum. The only way you might gain a 3rd zone is with CyPSV type which uses a velocity switch from the piezo signal. Very unlikely you can use that with anything other than 2box's own cymbals. Prehaps Yamaha's might work, but that's their own wiring making a 3rd zone, which is different.

I don't think the DrumIt module provides the advance calibration you'd need to adjust those pre-sets to make anything else work with a velocity switch. But it has bell gain control which is important to know about.

SDSE provides a way to bake-in a velocity switch in the instrument dsnd if you are interested.

Thanks for introducing me to MixWave!  ;D

So I'm guessing EZDrummer3 support would be next on the update agenda for SDSE? Keep up the great work!

Have you tried SDSE exporting samples from GetGoodDrums? Can we eliminate SD3 as the cause? What about AD2 as well?

I think some of the One Kit Wonders on 2box are some of the most joyful experiences you can have on electronic drums period. They cut through any music you need, but unlike any Roland module; the drum tones aren't butchered by synthesis, and unlike any EFNOTE module; not hampered by limited velocity layers. You can drum solo/roll with exceptional authenticity.

Hard to say, could be multiple issues, does it happen with all kits?

Set the pot correctly on the back, recalibrate, make sure you don't have HOLD turned way up on the sample.

Did you buy the VH11 used? It's possible internal parts of the controller are dirty and needs maintenance.
#27
Well yes, PaPSS and PaPSY settings support 3 zone snares with switches - so it will work with the Yamaha XP120SD if you want it!

However MIDI wise; only F2 and F#2 according to the manual, no support for piezo/piezo 3rd zones - even through MIDI.

#28
If 2box supported it's 3rd snare zone with MIDI-in, eDrumin would have a definitive use. The only benefit I see for it currently is finer control over trigger calibration and it's hotspot suppression.

1) Contact 2box about the issue - they may have shipped with an unsuitable card.

2) Order a 32GB Kingston Canvas Select Plus A1 (they aren't expensive)

2box requires low latency read access time.
A1 (and A2) grading certifies that an SD card is capable of a minimum number of IOPS.

While not directly related to read access latency, it is the best indicator we have that a card should meet the performance requirement.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Re: Unofficial 1.40 OS
December 14, 2021, 12:37:01 AM
I found a hidden menu in 1.40 OS (that doesn't exist on 1.36.30)

Accessed by going to KIT - ENV page, select UNIT, hold MORE + KIT

ENV2 page is displayed with a single parameter to adjust per trigger called TRIGP (options are RIM and CROSS) it's unclear what the effect this has from my testing so far.  :-\
