Many thanks for this!

I have a MIDI cable coming today so will try all this over the weekend.

I have this Pro-Tools 101 book which is very, very, good.  It is also available on YouTube!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2j9ouggZI8

There is a brief description of the MIDI in Drum-It 3 manual, page 53 in the .pdf version.

Thanks!

So is it possible to go on the MIDI Out to operate Superior Drummer 3 or EZ Drummer 2?

If this is possible, do I need a MIDI to USB conversion cable?

Unless of course I go Drum-It 3 MIDI Out into the Focusrite 18i20 MIDI In, then 'somehow' get that to work within Superior Drummer 3 / EZ Drummer 2(?).

I keep hearing that you can play directly from 2Box into the EZ Drummer and the drums operate at the same time as you hit your own electronic drums.

Has anyone rigged up their Drum-It 3 to Toontrack EZ Drummer 2 yet?

I assume this is over a MIDI?

Either way I'd be grateful for some configuration assistance.

And can I disable all other sounds going to the phones?  I only see Bus 1 to 4?

So appreciate your nice response - and no rambling at all - far from it, I am on a steep learning curve here!

As such, what is a VST and AD2?

On the DrumIt 3, I have the following config in to my Focusrite 18i20:

1.  Kick
2.  Snare
3.  Toms (x4)
4.  Cymbals (Hi-Hat, Ride and 2 x Crash)

What I would like to do (as a minimum) is split the cymbals up and have 2 more outputs and reconfigure the above to:

Output 1.  Kick
Output 2.  Snare
Output 3.  Toms
Output 4.  Crash Cymbals (x2)
Phones 1.  Hi-Hat
Phones 2.  Ride

Is this easy to do?

Anybody trying to get each individual drums/cymbals from their 2Box Drum-It 3 to multi-channel audio-interface (in my case a Focusrite 18i20) so can have visibility on Pro-Tools for each drum/cymbal?

Obviously there are only 4 analogue outputs (possibly 2 more via Phones sockets) and isn't really enough for sound engineering in (say) Pro Tools.

Love some advice on this and what other equipment I may need, if any solution available.

Something is starting to work now - which is good!

Next problem is:

How do I stop/disable all outputs going to the Phones Output (headphones)?

When I hit my kick-drum and snare drum, there is an output to my Focusrite 18i20 channels 1 & 2 - which I use for my 2Box Phones Out.

Sorry if you have done this, but are you hard panning the things you want to assign?

So,

Kick output 1+2 panned hard left
Snare Output 1+2 hard right
Toms output 3+4 Hard Left
Cymbals 3+4 hard right?

Where does it say to do it like this in the manual?

I am not 'hard panning' anything as the manual did not state this has to be done.

You are able to select (buses): 1, 1&2, 2, 3, 3&4, 4.   So I would have thought as on page 54 of the online manual that you can select single BUS channel(?).  Therefore, why 'hard pan'?

And on page 67 & 68 of the online manual - in the Signal Flow and Routing Options - you can see how they have shown what to program in for the drums/cymbals.

Why does this not work????

Good for you if you can configure pads to outputs 1-4.

The buses clearly do not send the outputs to their respective output jacks.

I have assigned my four as:

1)  Kick Drum

2)  Snare Drum

3)  Toms (all)

4)  Cymbals (all, incl hi-hat)

I have spent all day trying to follow the manual and its hopeless.  Lots about how things work and what things mean but, when you need to change something, the information and/or step-by-step guide on how to do it is sadly lacking in the Drum-It 3  manual.

Drum-It 3 is simply not doing what it says on the tin.

Has anyone tries to adjust Zones for individual items?

I go in to UNITS then scroll down to INTF and in particular, looking at ZONES.

On my Snare is has ONE zone.  Yet, according to the online manual page 45, the PadP snare has TWO zones.  If I want to have TWO zones shown for my Snare, I have to select PadSS - and in the manual, the chart says that this particular pad is THREE zones.

Which is right and which is wrong?

Totally confused by 2Box manuals.

Just changed it for my kick-drum Tru-Trac head and as you say, works perfectly well!

Difference being that the 22" mesh-head is a bit 'springy' - something that I never got with the ePro Tru-Trac kick drum.

Mesh-heads are OK but have my doubts beyond 16".

Anyone know if the Pearl Tru-Trac heads (ePro) work with DrumIt3?

General 2Box Drumit 3 Forum / Cymbals - Spinning Round
August 28, 2018, 02:06:38 PM
Does anyone know of a way to stop those quiet cymbals from 'spinning round'?

I have the perforated cymbals (loads of holes in, you know!), with triggers mounted on them.

Trouble is, they keep spinning round and the trigger will work its way to the back and elsewhere.  I just need the consistency and remain more or less in one place!

Is there a way of importing individual drums/cymbals in Sound/Kit Editor software?

I just can't seem to select an external drum or cymbal to add to a kit.

Moreover, importing Enerd's kits also not happening.

Have to say, the DrummIt 3 manual is not very well written.

Anybody know if there is a place where I can download full kits (or even individual drums/cymbals) for the DrumIt 3?
