Had a similar problem. Mine was I had a TS cable connected by mistake. Once I connected a TRS cable calibration screw worked again.

I hooked my goedrum controller back up and now it won’t calibrate in def mode. Can’t adjust raw at all. Hung at 955 and won’t adjust with the screw in the back. No pedal response at all. It will respond in aleh mode but not in def like it used to. Is the circuit fried or do I need to do a factory reset or reformat and reload the backup on the sd card. I really don’t want to have to start over setting up all the pads but I have tried about everything I can think of. Anyone else experience this issue?

Will not run in def mode. Edge on the hat cymbal pad triggers an open sound but pedal does not respond at all. Raw shows 954 and won’t adjust at all when in def and just gets a no change when trying to calibrate. May be too hot a signal and needs a resistor.

The goedrum works fine in def. Alesis realhat only seems to work in Alehh mode. I get a closed hat sound on the edge but no pedal input (open, closed, chick etc) on boot up. When deselecting then reselecting Aleah everything works again. No need to recalibrate. I tried def but nothing happens, can’t adjust Raw and no pedal response as well. When in def is it normal for the raw adjustment screw to not respond? I tried different cables as well. I am trying to figure out if the controller has an issue even though it works fine once I get it going or is there a problem in the module.

I normally use a goedrum controller but was trying out an Alesis realhat pedal. Could not get the Raw adjustment to move when Def was selected but it did work with selecting Alehh and would calibrate correctly , set Raw to around 854. I saved my settings (and yes, save is enabled) then after powering off then back on the module would only play a closed hat sound and no pedal function whatsoever until I would go back to the hi hat calibration page. The Raw would hang at 954 and seemed like it wasn’t recognizing the pedal until I would select either 2box or Def, then reselect Allehh again then it would recognize the pedal (you could see the Raw data moving from its closed 854 to open 954) and start working again until powered down. Happened every time I would restart. Once set it would work fine until the next power down them repeat.
Another issue that happened occasionally is the cymbal 3 (single zone) with one cable in the 3a slot nothing in 3 b slot would want to play a choked cymbal sound. I tried different cymbal pad types (wound up using Cyps) and having only one + in the middle setting. Again only happened when powering off and back on. Not every time like the hat.

I don’t find the same issue with the snare dynamics or the hi hats. With that said, I do some processing in AD2 before exporting. For my taste I like the Ludwig kits for the most part. I can’t remember the hi hats I use mostly but I have found many are crappy sounding but many aren’t as well, same with snares. I have a lot of adpacks and will create custom kits. What’s nice about using Ad2 and SDSE is after you do some tweaking in AD2 on let’s say on a couple of particular kits and once you import them into SDSE, you can very easily create custom kits to add to the sd card. You need to play around with it until you find a sound you like for a particular kit. Once in the module you may want to mess with different curve settings as well as eq. You can really create some great sounding kits if importing post processed instruments since not much can be done in the module I.e. reverb etc.

I use AD2. I like the black velvet and metal kits. I think they sound better than the factory stuff. I use the Lustar SDSE software to convert and transfer them to the drummit format, library and to the sd card (I have the 32gb conversion from Jman). Very easy to do with my setup. You need a PC for Lustar software since Mac’s aren’t supported. Highly recommend this route.

Does anyone know if the number of outputs are different than the 3 ?

Shure in ear monitors SE215 or better. I love mine. Just make sure you seat them in your ears well or you will lose the bass. They come with a bunch of different ear pieces so you can fit them exactly to your ear and are very comfortable. Much better than any headphones in my experience.

Definitely the cables. Need good TRS cables not TS cables.  TS cables will pick up any stray RF signals whether powered or not. Even though the module is off but with the mixer powered on, you are getting noise thru the cables, especially unsheilded TS cables. It’s rf emissions that the TS cables are picking up from either the mixer or the electricity coming into the building. That’s where power conditioners can really make a difference but still won’t help noise prone TS cables; and the longer the run the worse it is.
Ground loops can make noise worse but TS cables are unbalanced and aren’t grounded so they are always noise prone. TRS cables eliminate noise by canceling their polarity due to the third wire, kind of like an internal ground thus being balanced (Not really a good explanation). They can also be used as a single unbalanced stereo jack thats normally found with headphones.
All cables connected to the module should be TRS, even the line in. Also check the input gain at the mixer. Too high will cause noise whether the module is on or not.

Are you using TRS cables for your pads and main outs? What is your main volume knob set at?  If at least 3/4 max you should not need much if any additional gain at the mixer. It could be the samples on the sd card or the card itself. Try assigning the entire mix to the headphone out, disconnect the main outs and connect the headphone out to the mixer and see if you still get the noise. If you do then I would suspect the sd card or samples. Another thing is try plugging directly into powered speakers bypassing the mixer and see if the noise is still there. If not, then it’s your mixer settings, if it is still there then again points to the card or samples. Another option could be the power supply to the module. I run my module and mixer thru a rack mounted power supply which eliminates any possible ground loops. Just some thoughts.

Probably not the module. Most likely settings or bad or wrong cables. Are you using good TRS (not TS) cables? As for the gain, make sure you set each pad’s individual trigger gain settings first before volume. Turn the volumes down some or al the way then use the meter to set the gain as per Page 45 and 46 in the manual. Remember the Drummit3 gain is only setting the sensitivity of the pad and in conjunction with the curve settings controls how the module responds when a pad is struck. Once that’s done you should not need to mess with it. Now set the volume for each pad as on page 29. Turn off the EQ before setting the volumes. Volume settings on the Vol Eq page in the module are the same as described on page 29. Now set the fader levels on the mix page in the module. Remember the group faders apply to the mix groups. Look at those settings the same as you would on a mixing board. On the module master volume I keep mine around 3/4 for the line outs into a mixer. I adjust the input gain on the mixer as necessary to get a good signal without noise then adjust the sliders for the level I want. From there I adjust the master slider as desired. Signal is clean at this point. As for loudness without noise, that will be determined on how powerful your speakers/amps are. One last thing about noise are how are the electrical grounds. If say your module is plugged into an outlet that is on a different circuit than your mixer or amps/speakers, ground loops can occur because they are all cabled together. That’s where grounding lift switches on different components come into play as well as good TRS cables. TS cables are noisy because they aren’t grounded. Hope this helps.

Check the cymbal Type,CyPSY for Yamaha with choke. Also check the zones are active. For Roland could be CyPS or CyPSB.

 In hindsight (20/20) I agree that I should have used the headphones first. Lesson learned.  I will say I learned a lot from it all and I have been doing this a while.
