.... cool!!!  really sure you gonna love the drumit !

me i wait for a second hand Pearl rythm traveller for a mesh conversion next week... it allready has mesh head and some shiity cymbals to convert ... and piezos are allready waiting at home ;)

... but lets come back to DsoundTool ... i ve read somewhere that an update is comming for this spring ...
Yeah, the Rythm Traveler is a natural choice for conversion.... eventually you will prolly want to change the mesh heads .... Pearl mesh is pretty thin....  Good for a start though.... Have fun on the new project!

Sorry for the thread hijack :)

Nope, not yet, that's a screen shot of it though.... I know I have to update the OS to 1.10... It shipped on Friday. Priority from the UK ... supposed to be here about Tuesday... I'm like a kid waitin for Christmas again ;D

Andrew: You have never answered in the different threads you asked your same Hi Hat questions in .... what OS you have.... this is a screenshot of a module with OS 1.04
What OS is your module?

Nothing to do with DDrum4SE ... but in general I have run into electrical contact problems with machanical dials or sliders on several devices...... sound module, mixer, 24 channel recorder. If you decide to open your module you could spray the affected parts with contact cleaner and turn the dial back and forth while applying. On my devices I have had success without even opening them up .... just spraying into the dial from the top with the knob removed ... You could have dirty or corroded contacts.... Maybe a beer got spilled on the module at some point ;D
The good thing about electronic contact cleaners is they are non corrosive and dry very quickly, so you don't have to wait long to test it out....  I have also sprayed the audio inputs when I had problems and that helped once or twice..... Dunno, just a thought.

I think if it were me I would open the module and have a look inside. Can't hurt to clean it out... using some kind of aeresol blower...like keyboard cleaner.... check for corrosion, bad solder joints, etc ... use contact cleaner .... can't hurt, IMO.

A friend of mine was raving about the Yamaha PHX drums ... did a little browsing on the net, ran into this vid.... Wow, this has got to be one of the best sounding kits I've ever heard. Great tuning and recording .... Maybe someday, someone will sample this and we'll get something close in our modules .... that's all I'd want for Christmas ;D

thanx Jman , nice link...

What s your friend doing with this damned module ?.... ???

I vaguely remember telling him .... "take your time, test it out for yourself" damn, why'd I say that? ;D

hi Manfred

do you think it is possible to convert this yamaha hh60 hihat pedal for use with the drumit5 ?

what components should be added to match the 2box resistance .?

I'm not sure what the resistance range is on the Yammie pedal, but as an example a Roland VH-11 range is about 8 Ohms (Closed) to 20K Ohms (Full Open) ... so in that case judging by Manfreds post ... the high end resistance range is much lower for the 2Box HH control (than Roland anyway). I think it would be better to DIY from scratch .... Here is a somewhat related subject where some have built a HH controller for Megadrum (resistance range could be adjusted for 2Box)
http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=881

That is the direction I am thinking about experimenting in.... I'll let you know if I get anywhere positive when I finally get my module ..... still hasn't even shipped to me yet :'(

Dsound tool

Thanks, Cool to have this resource .... definitely on my list when I finally get my setup... looks like it will be a great addition ... unlocking the tool cabinet...

Thanks for the replies, once again. That's the info I needed. As far as the why.... from a personal interest... I plan to use my own cymbals on the kit. With the stock cymbals naturally the module should be set optimally from factory.... But with other brand cymbals, or in my case my own .... a little extra leeway is nice.

I assume the velocity of edge is determined from the main piezo ... On my kit currently I have 2 or 3 zone sizes from 12" all the way up to 20" just like an acoustic kit ... with larger cymbals the distance from the main piezo to the edge/switch increases so the response of the edge will normally be lower ... nice to have a separate gain control to adjust for that. I couldn't find this specifically in the manual or through my searches... and haven't received my module and pads yet ... wondering how much adjustment is possible between zones as far as trigger parameters..... does the edge zone on crashes/ride have a separate gain control? or threshold setting? ... basically wondering what, if any trigger parameters can be adjusted separately for crashes and ride.

I assume the snare and toms have separate adjustments, especially since you can split those inputs for 2 separate pads if you want .... but the cymbals??

I had never problems with it (cable length 50cm).

no problems.

yes, this holds. but a mechanical connection is better.

Nice! Looks like you used existing mounting holes..... with some type of standoffs under the plate? Or, longer screws plus spacers?

I  didnt say anything ...:)

by the way JMAN ... can i ask you a question about the type of material and glue you use to insulate your E-cymbals ?  i m into building 2 box compatibles cymbals for my own use ... allready have 3 prototypes  with different designs on my kit...:)

I heard a lot that smart trigger/alesis have a problem with the transparent rubber that peels and dont stick well... did you overcome this issue ?

if it s a secret , no problem ;)

Sent you a PM ... J

good idea :)

that was my first version:

Yup, saw that pic ... that's my inspiration! I wasn't sure whether you had tightened the screws up on the casing, but now that I look closer, it looks like you had it completely assembled that way, cool .... I may just end up doing a slot too, just like you... later on after I am sure I have no glitches...
I was wondering if you think I will run into any problems as far as insulation/shielding on the flat ribbon type cable extending out of the module like that?

Also, you have had the slot and larger SDHC card for months now, have you run into any problems at all?  Also, if I do the slot I like the hot glue idea especially since it is quick ... no need to clamp things in place waiting for adhesive to dry... Is that holding up well?

I received my SDHC Extender Cable/adapter today. Much sooner than I expected, I received it from China to So Cal, US within one week of purchase. Ships International ... so I will let you know how well it works. This is the item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320624495515&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I won't have my Drumit 5 module for a couple weeks at least, so I'll come back with progress and pics. I tested the adapter on my PC using a 32GB card I already had... recognized it fine after formatting.

The flat cable is quite thin  8) ... I plan to do mine as an alternative for those that are afraid to do any permanent mods to the module case. Since the flat cable is so thin, I think I will be able to slide it out of the module case, use a small amount of electrical tape to shim where it squeezes through to protect it from getting pinched... then mount the Plastic card slot part on the side of the module with some strong 2 sided tape... I'll come back when I go forward and take pics along the way... This should be a nice option, and completely reversible.
