So if you have a new 2Box kit or module from the US you might have OS Vs. 1.28.
In another thread a new member "Junior" posted about his module and mentioned he had OS Vs. 1.28. That was the first we had heard of a version higher than 1.26. Anyway, Junior is local and stopped by today with his module. I didn't do a real thorough investigation at the time, but I have since loaded the OS and Drumit.Init files and checked them out. The new OS adds the Rubber Head pad type, 3 rubber head choices. So instead of 12 different pad type choices there are 15 total now. And that is the only change I could find, at least dialing through all the Unit choices and Kit pages, everything else seemed to be the same.

So I imagine the latest US kits will come with that OS. But I really wouldn't sweat it one way or the other, because from what I could see ... it is really just a set of pad parameters, a starting point on parameters for the Rubber head pads ...... which can be pretty easily setup manually.

The earliest US modules shipped with OS 1.26 and although there were no pad choices for Rubber Heads, the parameters were already setup for rubber head kits, quite a bit different than the default pad parameters for a mesh head 2Box kit .....

So IMO, if you are running OS Vs 1.26 ..... it's all good! No worries. J

I just wondered how the 2Boxers are mounting their modules with kits that have no rack? I'm sure there are some of you out there.

One idea I had was to attach the module with a mounting plate like many of us have done  http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?topic=1846.msg16561#msg16561
and then using a multi clamp to attach it to a cymbal or tom stand  http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=multiclamp+for+cymbal+stand&qpvt=Multiclamp+for+cymbal+stand&FORM=IGRE

Anybody already using the module mounted on something besides a drum rack?

As many here already know I build DIY conversion kits for converting acoustic cymbals and drums to electronic cymbals and drums compatible with the 2Box Drumit Five module. I started out doing this for Roland and Alesis sound modules, but after falling in love with the 2Box Drumit Five I have added Stealth Conversion kits that work great with the 2Box module. You will also see my ads for the Stealth 2Box 32GB plug n play conversion kit as well as the Stealth 2Box Hi Hat stand conversion kit in my other Classified ads. So for those that are looking for a nice solution for using the 2Box module with a real acoustic experience just take a look at my site, contact me through there or send me a private message at the forum and I will give you more info and pricing.

My site here:  http://stealthdrums.com/Home_Page.html

And here is a demo video of my own kit, everything is Stealth here, converted drums, cymbals, Hi Hat stand, and 32GB card mod with custom VST sounds installed on a Mega dual 2Box module Stealth kit:

Just in case anyone is interested I decided to list my Lectric Moo that I started building in 2005 on eBay. I also try to keep a few of these in stock. I do not list this on eBay with Worldwide shipping, but if you are interested in one of these outside the US or Canada just send me a PM and I can quote shipping. thanks, J

This was announced at NAMM 2014 but it was unclear whether the samples that could be added would allow velocity layering. According to this video and questions in the thread it appears it will have velocity layering capabilities (defined in a software utility). Time will tell just how many layers, how well it performs, etc. It will not have what they call dynamic articulation (which would be similar to the Variable choice in the 2Box module I think).
But if everything were ideal this would mean you could likely record a multi-layer WAV from .... for instance... a VST program .... add pads or triggers and there you go. I could see if you were already running VST kits on your 2Box module adding additional pads using sounds from the same or other VSTs and expanding your setup pretty easily. Worth keeping an eye on it IMO.

Depending on what sample rate/format the samples will be used at, it might even be possible to convert dsnds we have already built to play through it.

I may have to "take one for the team" and test one of these when they are available. Alesis says April. With their track record that could mean this April, 2 years from this April, or ??? .... but we'll see.

Don't be alarmed .... It is only a test! yeah, they decided to see what the response would be to different color 2Box drums ..... I suggested they might try Black, White, Silver/Gray ....  ;D And yes as the links to US retailer ads that others have already displayed suggest ..... the 2Box kits and modules have arrived in the US .... a few days ago the containers arrived.

First off: The compatible SDHC cards for the 2Box module that I have used have required no formatting. It is best not to format your card. But for those that have a problem, or have mistakenly formatted cards using on board Windows or Mac formatting here is the formatting tool that you should use to reformat your cards:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
Normally just do a Quick Format, Format Size Adjustment Off
32K is the cluster size used by the 2Box module.

Important reminder for those that have done the Card extender mod: Once you have done the Card extender mod you must use a card reader with your computer to do any of the functions you normally would do via usb connection from the module. You will no longer have access via the module's USB port. You will only screw up your SDHC card if you attempt to connect the module via USB after doing the mod. J

Just thought I would start a thread in case there are any sporting new gear for the holidays. I ordered a Pearl Throne Thumper. It won't arrive for at least a couple weeks. I had been looking at the holiday sales, but hadn't decided to order one. A few days before Christmas I had to order a HH stand I use for Roland E-stand conversions (I usually stock/sell a few stands for Roland users who don't want to DIY their own stand/controller)... the cheapest deal I could find for the stand I use on the conversion was $248, but with the 15% additional discount for the holiday sales and free shipping I ended up getting both the stand and the Thumper for a very nice price.... which at least in my mind justified the little splurge .... couldn't resist.

I currently have stock on the Stealth 2Box Hi Hat stand conversion kits for converting a Hi Hat stand or other electronic HH Pedal/Controller into an electronic Hi Hat stand/controller or HH pedal/controller compatible with the 2Box module. With this kit you can use my own Stealth Hi Hat cymbals, or most any other brand electronic Hi Hat cymbal or Electronic cymbal that will mount on a standard Hi Hat stand as a moving Hi Hat system with the 2Box module. Or, if you prefer to use your current electronic HH pedal/controller and a stationary E cymbal with the 2Box module you can do that too.

This is a complete, simple to install kit that works with all or most all acoustic Hi Hat stands. Hi Hat stands that have a metal floor base are great as the control box can mount to the bottom of the base. But if you look at the last picture in this post and further in this thread you will see some simple DIY base plates attached to stands that do not have existing metal bases. The easy to install mounting plate kit takes about 5 minutes to add,and just a few bucks worth of parts required. I also sell that mounting plate kit if you don't have the parts available locally or prefer just to buy the plate kit that can ship together with your order.

So whatever stand you have the Stealth 2Box Hi Hat Stand Conversion kit will work.
The control box attaches with the Velcro, the magnet attaches to the pedal with industrial quality 2 sided peel n stick adhesive. The stand conversion takes a matter of minutes. Very easy to install.

Here's a list of some of the Ecymbals or E HH setups people are using with my Stealth 2Box HH Stand Conversion kit:
Roland Cy-5, Roland Cy-6, Roland Cy-8, Roland VH-11, Roland VH-12, Roland VH-13, Roland FD-7/FD-8 using stationary HH cymbal, ATV AD-H14 (with Drumit 3 or Drumit 5), Alesis ProX Hi Hat and other Alesis cymbals, Pintech E cymbals and E Hi Hats, Yamaha E Hi Hats and E cymbals (a minor mod may be necessary with Yamaha depending on model: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,1010.0.html ) and of course my own Stealth "Real" Dual zone HH cymbal set. And that is not a complete list, just some of the well known brands.
The Price: $99 plus shippingAdd $7 to the price if you have a HH stand with no bottom plate and want to add the mounting plate hardware kit.
If interested: Send me a private message including your location and I will quote the shipping price.

DO NOT TRY USING THE ORIGINAL 2BOX HI HAT ALONG WITH MY CONTROL BOX! The original 2Box Hi Hat already has a control board and combining that with a second control board will at best cause inaccurate operation, and improper voltage to both my control box and the orig. 2Box hat board.

I posted a video to YouTube with some of the dsnd kits I built from Drumasonic, BFD3 and a few of the new 2Box kits. http://youtu.be/CddZ28W-RH4

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / BFD3 released today!
September 30, 2013, 06:37:18 PM
Yup, BFD3 is now out .... it sure sounds good to me. I'll prolly upgrade this week. One of the things I love about BFD is the original pack comes with a bunch of new kits and instruments (even a brush kit and mallet kit), unlike Superior which has just one or 2 sets of drums/toms. So with BFD you start out with a pack with a huge amount of potential without worrying about adding expansion packs right away. J

I decided I should post this today after seeing another post on a forum about someone screwing up their 32GB card and making it unusable in the 2Box module.

First of all, for the record:  Any modification you do to your 2Box module is at your own risk and could void the manufacturer warranty.

This has been posted at various times in various threads, but just to repeat again.

DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT YOUR MODULE VIA USB AFTER DOING THE 8/16/32GB CARD EXTENSION MOD!

4GB is the limit to card size installed in the 2Box module that can be accessed via direct USB connection to your module.

Use a Card Reader with your computer to access the 2Box card after doing the larger card installation/mod.
You can do all the functions necessary via a card reader on your computer with your 8/16/32GB card. You can add or remove files. You can change to the latest OS. You can use all the functions of the 2Box Editor and Drumit Manager http://lustark.com/drumit-manager , rename kits, import, export kits, export backups, etc.

If you don't already have a card reader on your computer or the card reader you are using is hit or miss (like the internal one in my PC) a simple inexpensive USB card reader will work. One like this is what I use:

I was just thinking about how great this is today. With the Card mod having the SD card slot accessible outside the module is such an advantage IMO.... Allan/Digitaldrummer and I have been further testing and comparing 32GB SDHC cards that are compatible with the 2Box module. So from his end and from my end we have timed the boot up of quite a few cards. This module continues to impress and please me ..... How cool is it to be able to completely switch out up to 32GB of content in about 7 seconds? Well, about 8 seconds top ;D   :patbat2box:
