Do I need both Midi inputs for this? The In output is already occupied with me and I do not want to sacrifice one or two pads for something like that ...

of course you need to plug the midi out of the Octapad to the input of the module ... but you can daisy chain devices with midi ...

hi ,

it s also possible to use an old Roland OCTAPAD ... i have it in version 1 , the one from 1983 , it is capable to send MIDI "program change" instead of regular midi notes ... this way you can switch between 8 kits on the fly ... I assume later models also can do this ...

But be carefull , switchin kits on the Drumit 5 is not instantaneous ... it takes a little time , much less than half a second , depending of the Dsounds size maybe ... that can cause the first kick stroke to be silent .

I dont know it this was improved on the D3 or D5mk2 .

With the new 5 coming out in a month or 2, how long do you guys guess before a top end like Mimic Pro class module comes out. 3 to 5 years

A year and a half ... maybe ;)

i know it would be better not to have issues with the VH11 and the D3 ...

Maybe you should try the zourman box with the D3 ..?

I have issues with drumit 5 module associated with a macbook through a simple midi-usb cable. (The one from Prodipe)
It eventually worked in the past, but I often had this issue and today I just can't make it work.

Here are my "symptoms" :
- So, I don't have notes caught in any software, cubase, garageband etc.
- When using midi monitor, It shows some activity whenever I hit a pad, but with message "Invalid" and data "3 bytes".
- It is visible in the midi studio, and testing to send notes to the module from the computer works.

All ideas are welcome, I really wish I had midi working to record some tracks :)

Thx!

try the midi cable  with a midi keyboard if you have one , if it still dont work .... it s time to buy another interface

there is also this software for building DSOUNDS made by Louis , a 2BOX early user , called DSOUNDTOOL  . With this one you can simply put a wav file with all hits and it will automatically convert it to a DSOUND .

http://www.shortestpath.se/dsoundtool/

There use to be a lot of electro sounds on the 2BOX website , but they are gone :) .. i dont know why ...

I m sure someone on this community could share a link with those sounds .

you could also  :

- plug the tom in the cymbal3 input , it will work as 1 zone pad

- or use cable splitter to plug 2 pads in one tom input . They will be one zone also , but for toms it s not a problem .

hello ,

i would suggest to sample the yamaha keyboard and convert it to DSOUND .

You have to record a 16 bit 44,1 audio file , with 20 to 30 velocity levels , from very loud to soft hits .
Leave a silence between hits so the software can easy find the "slices" .

Then load the DSOUND in your module and voilà ...

Download the editor and look at the tutorials there :    http://2box-drums.com/editor/

I'd recommend you to get a VST and get the 3 zone snares done with SDSE, you'll have less hiss/noise and the occasionally human voice saying "perfect"...

less hiss noise ? how is that possible ?

I'm using my old cables from my td20 (trs). The edge triggers perfectly.

Are you sure the edge is triggering ...?  The edge sound is triggered by the edge switch ... This same switch is used for the choke .

It s strange you dont get both ...
