We know that Drumit5 brain uses another system for controling the hihat that is not compatible with "standard" hihat pedals design  ...like this one :
...

Did anybody try to use another drum module , lets say a cheap Roland td3+pedal  to control opening via midi ...? Triggering would still be done by the HIHAT input of the 2box module.

Do you think it will be still possible to have the EDGE/BOW sound ? ( naturally with a 2 box cymbal , but also with any cymbal which has a  piezo and a side swich :)...)   and what about the "tchick" and "foot splash" sounds ?

IMO it is feasible but i never had oportunity to try it ...

It could be a good trick for people who prefers a non moving hihat with a standard pedal , or diy kits .... and also get some extra pad inputs to control whatever they need ...

have a nice day ....

DrumIt 5 Hardware / let there be kick light ....?
January 15, 2011, 07:02:58 AM
... about this now famous kick light ...
Does it mean there is some 5v DC on KiCK input's ring  ? is the bass drum light  a LED ?
I ask this ,because then it could be possible to use this DC to power a couple of LEDs to enlight the module's pannel  ...

About SD Card replacement procedure...
( details  http://www.2box.se/Pages/sd-procedure.html )

Did some users  have trouble with the DrumIt Five unit freezing , outside the serie  from serial number 1050 upto 1559 ?

A ghost in the machine ....?

Hello

This is not a post about steward Copeland , the coolest drumer of last century ...

I noticed while playing some soft rythms that at the end of some sounds , you can hear someone's voice talking ,  dropping the drumsticks or making noize with the drumstool...

This happens  only on some layers of the dsnd file , so that appears randomly ...

For sure this is not a big deal ...but makes you feel a bit like Joan of Arch ;) and its sometimes quite spookie when you playe alone at night ...

In an older post , i spoke about some sound layers that have between 1 and 38 milliseconds  of silence before sounds attack ,  so i really think that more care should be taken while editing before releasing Dsound files .

I m also sure  that with actual digital technology , it s possible to have less hiss on some of the sounds ...

have a nice day

hello UC ,

Could you add a new BOARD or even a STICKY TOPIC to this forum where members would post their questions to Deve LOPER (Deve , is your wifes first-name cindy ? ;) ) and the 2box team ?

Do someone know the exact type and reference of piezo used in 2box pads ?

That could help fot DIY projects or simply for having spare parts for repairing pads if you dont have time to send them back to the manufacturer , as your gig is in 2 hours ...

deve , i know that 2box is an open sound , not an open system , but DIY is not a crime , and just a small amount of users like to make their own stuff ...

hello... got this idea while responding to another post ... it s maybe usefull to make a topi on it..

I ve read somewhere in the forum that positionnal sensing required to have the sensor in the middle of the pad ... like roland or hart ones ... I ve never had the opportunity to try positionnal sensing by myself , but a lot of users ask for that on the forum  , so i imagine it could be nice and usefull expand ...

I dont know if the center sensor design is pattented or not , but maybe 2box could release a special snare pad with this design ,  update the OS for positionnal sensing support and create some nice multizone snare sounds ... i imagine that more samples are needed ( center , and some sounds between center and side of the skin ) .This is not an issue , as hi hat and cymbals can handle more than one sound ...

Actual 12" snare pad could become a big 4th tom ... so no loss for kit users :)

... This could open possibilities for those who use center sensor based pads ,DIY or from other vendors ... I truly think its a way to sell more modules and make more people speak about 2box ...

DrumIt 5 Hardware / DDT triggers ... some users here ?
January 01, 2011, 01:34:03 AM
Does anybody use DDT Tom Trigger 12" Truss-System ?

http://www.musicstore.de/fr_FR/FRF/DDT-Tom-Trigger-12-Truss-System-inkl.-Kabel/art-DRU0015939-000

they seem to have a "roland cone like" design ...

Is the skin sensor less sensible to rim hits than a side sensor , like DDRUM pads and acoustic trigs or 2BOX pad.?

hi

I rendered some dsnd files with dsoundtool to see how sounds were layered ... at the beginning of some sounds , i noticed there was 1 millisecond of silence before sound starts ... is it a problem on the rendering with dsoundtool ? or maybe it was programmed like that... is it usefull ? what for? not sure its usefull or needed , if so all sounds would have this millisecond....

if anybody knows something about that...

1 millisecond of silence is not a lot.... sure , but without this millisec , triggering will be 25% quicker ... (according to ggianni who mesured :
Kick - Latency 3.87 + 0.13 ms
Snare - Latency 3.63 + 0.13 ms
HiHat - Latency 3.70 + 0.18 ms
Cymbal - Latency 5.3+ 0.9 ms
in this nice topic http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,491.0.html#msg6369 )

Seems that some people managed to buy extra pads cymbals ... what price did you pay ? where did you buy it ?

hello
Could anybody explain how  2 box cymbals are built ?  how many piezos ? wiring ? piezzo(s) position on the pad ... how choke works...

this could be nice for DIY projects , or just a better undrestanding of the module behaviour..

thanx !
