DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: 2box magnet strength?
October 13, 2015, 04:19:11 AM
The most common way to measure magnetic fields are in Tesla. (T)

I was checking the manual for the electronic circuit used in the hi-hat (Allegro A1392) if they mention anything about the recommended B field but there was not any hints on how strong a magnet needs to be...

I would argument that the original magnet in my setup is extremely weak...

Did you use a original 2box magnet Coda?

The headphone output has always been suspicious...how dows the channel 1&2 on 2Box sound when comparing?

Just as Jman I am running my 2box's audio through the 6 outputs. (I am not using the phones output to the PA....it is currently driving my Pearl Buttkicker...)

After have been moving all AD2 ADPaks to 2Box using SDSE...I can't say that the sound is different compared to what I hear in AD2. Most of my AD sounds sounds better than the factory sounds.

coda - your engineer should have been offering you a 6 channel di box....and some time work it out...but 30 minutes in advance...knowing the quite complex sound routing settings in 2Box...yes you did the right thing!

Somebody initiated asked me to try it out. I am guessing it is still in beta stage.

Can't be too far from official release...this was months ago.

A while ago I wrote a complete post about my adventure adding 2Box to my e-drum environment.

Great feedback! Many thank! I was starting to wonder if I was completely alone in the hardware forum area! :-) Could also be that the Swedish guy asked questions which are common knowledge for everybody except...:-)

Yes - you are right...I took a oscilloscope today and scanned the signal and the selection of sounds are totally based on the velocity. Nothing else!

This knowledge could maybe open up a couple of opportunities and a invention...

Hi!

I had some general thoughts about how 2Box do the bell/bow separation? One thing they measure is how hard you have hit the cymbal. You will have a higher voltage range if you hit on the bell but I am also thinking the 2Box module is also able to determine a bell hit by looking on the wave form and measures the time between the first positive wave to the second positive wave. I am guessing the curve time will differ if you compare a bell hit with a bow hit.

Anyone who have some thoughts, input or comments on this? :-)

35000 "hits" are good numbers! Nice work and a great video, Endre!

DrumIt 5 Hardware / The 2Box e-cymbal with 3 zones...

I am guessing that this topic have been covered many time before...but I did not find any good topic when searching the forum.

The 2Box cymbal have 3 zones + the choke...how is this really working? I think I red that you Jman offers 3 Zone stealth cymbals...

How are they built ... 2 switches + piezo...or ....?

Hi!

My two cents to the discussion: there are loads of samples found on 2Box site beside the factory sounds. I can just confirm that the digital rights management (DRM) issue is valid...The recording Studio for the original sounds in Sweden, told me that they planned to make more kits...but the chance to get paid was limited. The SDSE tool works great...I bought Addictive Drums Ultimate POP ADPak...yesterday, picked the best settings...made an export using SDSE...36 minutes later I got a complete DSNds Kit which sounds more than ok in my ears...

Jman - not a bad guess at all. You say something here in your text...Big Jambo, the truth is that the X Shell drums found in 2Box is the actual DW VLX Kit worth $20 000...So you are right there are some real expensive kits sampled in 2Box.  ;D
