But it feels strange when days pass by without anything new posted on the forum...But I am guessing the Xmas will "calm" down things a bit.

I have bought myself a Fender acoustic guitar as xmas gift..:-) but I am also thinking of buying a small Sonor Martini kit...and make an A-E conversation. Would look nice at home...(and will maybe be the last step with my wife before she moves out... :) )

I really wonder what we can expect from next years Namm and upcoming year?

  • Will the Drummit 3 enter the market?
  • Will somebody start selling 2Box sounds?
  • Will somebody come up with some new gears for 2Box?
  • Will 2Box release some new exciting firmwares for 2Box?
  • Will there be any new e-drum devices which will disruptive the whole market?

A merry xmas to you all!

Best Regards

Many thanks Coda for sharing the results! True, the 2Box HH is not chokable.

I think based on your info that I cracked the last part on my system. (I am trying something new here)

Thanks Coda!

If you only do a choke...and at the same time have the pedal in down position...will the hihat animation open?

With a 2Box original hihat, it seems like a choke is impossible to perform based on the mechanical design. My idea is that when using a Roland VH-11...the edge triggering is maybe a bit too easy to fire compared to 2box standard hi-hat. Knowing these facts...it could be the thing that it sometimes misfiring/mistriggering. Or?

Hi!

IF you get a chance to check...I am very interested in the result. :-)

Thanks Coda!

I have no doubts that VH-11 will separate the bow/edge 100 % right every time. This works in my setup. But how does your original 2Box hihat do it? My original 2Box hihat is hard to trigger for an edge hit...and that is by design for an obvious reason...

CODA what happens in your VH-11 implementation...if you press down the pedal to close and at the same time manually press the edge switch between your thumb and the other finger (make a choke)...and at the same time takes a look on the hihat calibration page on your 2Box device....

What do you see?

Hi all!

I have a question to you all that have done the HH mod from Jman or similar implementations and is using a Roland e-cymbal like VH-11, VH-12, CY-8 as the hihat pad.

Studying the original 2Box hihat...when hitting the edge switch...by default on (at least on my gear) the edge switch is quite hard getting to trigger...and the piezo sensor will most often trigger instead when hitting the edge. (It is of course a mix of signals when hitting the edge but mostly piezo hits will be number 4 in 2Box)

Using a Roland e-cymbal gear will by default give you an easier way to trigger the edge switch...

To the question...has anybody experienced false triggering or other strange behaviors when using HH mod with a Roland HH e-pad when playing with the edge switch? Or does it work just as good (or bad) as the 2Box implementation?

Best regards

aaaaaaaaaaNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Its not a DW!! hahaha just kidding. I can not believe its not a Sonor. It sounds very, very close to a Sonor kit. Closest kit Ive ever heard to a Sonor. Makes sense tho because I wasn't 100% sold on it being a Sonor kit. I wish they would actually record a Sonor in the future. It would be all over at that point. Best sounding kit in the world at our fingertips. Lets try to push this guys to the great 2Box people. Spread the word! We want Sonor samples.
How lucky are you to have been in the studio??!!! Please do elaborate on the studio for us!

The request for more great sounds should be escalated to 2Box. As you know - creating great sound librarys is costly and time consuming. If not created by 2Box or enthuiast like eNerd ...the sales model for DSDN sampled drums is zero based on non-existing copy protection. You have a great opportunity to port sounds from any VSTs using SDSE. In the AD2 ADPak Studio POP you will find a nice Sonor Designer Kit...just to export!

From a very secure source(myself visiting the studio where they once were recorded) the X shell samples found in 2Box is a DW X Shell drum kit. It sounds fantastic!

It sounds more like that You have problems with your audio card. I am guessing you are using the built in sound card in your Mac?

I would relax for a while to start AD2 from reaper, try instead running AD2 in the standalone mode...and configure the settings in AD2. Increase the buffer slightly if you hear strange sounds. Does the strange noise disappear now?

As usual..you get what you pay for in terms of midi interfaces, sound cards etc. A combined midi/sound card with native ASIO drivers...will do magic to your setup.

Hi!

To my limited knowledge...a smaller piezo is often hotter than a bigger one, e.g. Smaller will generate a higher signal than a bigger one. Try a 35 mm instead.

The 2box bell implementation fires off when a piezo hit goes over a 0,156V(this a AC signal so it is a bit hard to measure)..a normal bow hit will be generating signals in the ranges of 0,056 to 0,100V.

So you could add a variable pot and try...I would pick a variable resistor with a range of 0-50k ohm and try. Connect it in series with the piezo.

One problem with most piezo's have is that they will start to build up some power(they will not go down to zero V immediately after a hit) when hitting them in a row. This is probably what you do experience when bells fires off after a series of bow hits.

A generic solution to address this is to use a condensator in parallel with the piezo. It will "empty" the circuit (read piezo) after a defined time, this process is dependent on the value of the condensator. I would try with a 10nF or a 100nF ceramic cap. But start with the potentiometer trick first.

Fantastic - As usual Mr Lustar - the response, support and the dedication is just top notch for SDSE!!

I had to try and make an export on my Surface 3 - i7...and 32 minutes and 21 seks...the AD2 United POP package was there! IT seeems like the 125%/150% DPI issue is gone...my system is running SDSE on 100% DPI in Windows 10!

Many thanks and have a great saturday evening!

Hi Lustar!

I was just checking the AD2 ADPaks ... But I could not find support for the last pak called United POP.

I am guessing that it is not any problem to export it anyway (in fact I have done it) but the pak shows up as studio pop.

How does this work?

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: 2box magnet strength?

Great to hear. The solution you are working on - is it based on the orginal HH PCB board from 2BOX?
It sounds like intresting ideas, if you are able to create a solution which does not need recalibration. (No big deal but it takes some time to do it.)

If you are intrested to see the measured high and low level values for the hi.hat - you can actually get it from Lustarks DKit Manager. (you can't see it on the 2Box module)
In my case - it is showing the calibrated value for high/low in the unit *** panel.
I have the following values for my config on high 24600 and low 94 after a calibration.

Could be good to know when dealing with hihats and trying to get the right values on the pedal.

I am using a standard 2box magnet in my scissors test above.

Just to give all an idea of the strength of a working magnet...I have placed a pair of scissors on a table...and with the magnet I am barely able to drag the scissors around in a circle on the table.

The magnet in my example is appointed to the edge/ long side.

I am not a big fan of the hall sensor stuff...most probably because of that my hi hat circuit is broken and occasionally get in some kind of hazardous mode...

Finally, I got enough, So I came up with my own solution...
