Hi!

Setting up 2Box to receive on cc:04 is no problem if using the Katxxx.

Setup guides and tips / Re: Hihat Pedal MIDI Note

Hi!

I had to try this. First, to the audience: this is maybe not the most common scenario where somebody wants to use a keyboard to control the 2Box. But I could be wrong....

I am using a midi keyboard sending on midi channel 10. My modulation wheel is sending on cc:01. The 2Box hh pedal has been set to cc:01^ (The hi hat pedal seems to be reversed) Using the A1 note on my keyboard will trigger a bow hit and A1# triggers the edge. Using the modulation wheel will make a nice transfer between open and closed hi hat on both A1 and A1#. Using the B1 (Chick) after entering a open hi-hit bow or edge hit will result in a choke of the open hi-hat. A fast hit on the B1...will trigger a hi-hat splash.

So this works as good as it can. Yes, it is a pity that 2Box don't use common midi maps...where the hi-hat is spread over at least three keys on the keyboard. (Where you go from open to close)

I did also made the same test on my old TD-6 and directly in Logic triggering AD2. If using the Drummit 5 settings in AD2 it shows exactly the same outline of midi map as seen in 2Box. Same kind of problems if playing over a keyboard.

The manual...claims that B2 is the foot pedal. What is generated when pressning B2?

The pedal choke sound does not have an assigned midi note. The sound is generated by the speed in change from the cc:04 channel. Ok. To try explain the cc:04 Function...it is like if you play a note on your keyboard and at the same time use the pitch wheel. The pitch wheel will trigger a cc event.

You could try to use the pitch wheel on you keyboard to simulate the pedal. You need to change your cc channel on 2Box to cc:01 for the pedal.

Jman,

What would you claim to be your best hi-hat settings for the 2Box HH ?

For the bow/edge: -35 and neg1, xtalk?
Pedal: -6 and neg2 (it seems like if setting it too high...the chick starts to interfere with the bow/edge in a very nasty way...

In this fantastic and free e-drum magazine you will find some statements from Bengt, CEO at 2Box, a complete story about how the factory sounds in 2Box were recorded in the Swedish Big Jambo Studios...a wet dream for most drummers and finally you will find an article about our "President" Mr Jman and his monster kit!

A USB Dac will probably be worse than the built In audio in your Mac.i would recommend a cheap 2 channel USB audio interface from focusrite etc. then you will get lower latency, 3,5/6,5 mm phone jack and also a balanced audio output for your mixer...and the sound will be perfect!

The 2Box module is a fantastic tool for live performances! When doing live or even recording rehearsals (we have such a mixer which record 32 channels on the fly) I am using 6 direct outputs from 2Box and it sounds great in my old ears. For more serious recordings (in Logic and Cubase) I am just using the midi trigger part of 2Box where it triggers VSTs in my computer. I am using Addictive Drums.

If I found some nice sounds in AD2 or settings...I am exporting it to 2Box, using the SDSE tool and is able to use it live on stage in the next step.

Hi!

Is your triggit trigger still broken? Did you get the system to work again after switching back to the 2Box Snare?

I have experienced some latency, if some triggers have been wrong configured. Example like if using a  2Box cymbal have been configured as a cyedge etc. It is also important to be in the "kit" mode when playing. Not the "unit" mode (for configuring triggers or outputs etc), which occasionally could have impact on the latency on 1.30.0 bios version. (Seems to be better on 1.30.3)
