A new version of the manual for Zourman Drums Hihat Conversion Kit can now be found on Zourman.com. (Support section)

I have now officially added support for FD-7 and the new FD-9. More hi hats will soon follow.
Mr "De...Lo" thought my 2box screenshots looked strange and that one of tweaking tip was unclear...so I have fixed it and redrawn the screenshots to now be top notch! :-)

Have a look at:

Hi!

Sounds strange if it worked yesterday...but not today.

Go into the unit mode. Click page down once...and you will be at the trigger page.

If you try to hit Tom 1 and have signal you will see the settings for Tom 1 show up. If not, you can force 2box to jump to the Tom 1 settings by pressing Tom 1 on the buttons on 2box.

If you see the settings on Tom 1 I would guess that you will use the pad12 settings and a threshold around -35. Test!

Do the same for Tom 2.

Don't forget to save the settings. (This is probably what you missed yesterday) you do this on the first unit page.

Other e-drum systems / Re: Pearl Mimic Pro

Hi!

I do like the Mimic approach and concept. I have played a lot with VST's on the stage before entering into 2box in an attempt to bring down the complexity a bit.

This would maybe bring me back to VST on stage again. On the other hand this is only a box based on Windows Embeded which has been locked down to a certain VST manufacturer. No big deal to do with an computer. I am also guessing it will be a nice price tag on it as well.

I really wonder what 2box (or even check what mr Deve) is coming up with in the next step? Feels more tempting to wait! And the current 2box is still delivering big time!

Hi. Just would like to comment this...I was talking to Bengt at 2box and according to him so was the old dd4 hat based on the the same magnetism system( using the same Allegro 1392 circuit) They just used the same design when defining the 2box HH.

But...would I dare to use it with 2Box....no I think it needs to be studied further before entering and use it with the 2box module.

Hi again!

I just released a new manual for the Zourman Hi-hat conversion kit (formally 42Box) for FD-8/VH-11 with some small tweaking tips. You will get a 100% working Roland hi-hat implementation by just using the standard calibration scenario, but it is actually possible to tweak it even further to be able to reflect your play style even better. What I have seen in my tweaking tips is there seems to be a connection between the impedance on the bow sensor (which need to be cooled on Roland hi-hats with some resistance) and how easy or hard it is to create a foot chick. A too high cooler value (50k ohm) will make it very hard to create a foot chick(sample number 9) and a too low value will make the foot chick to misfire. About 20k ohm seems to be a sweet spot on my hi-hat solution. (There is a variable resistor on the HH kit)

On VH-11 there is also a mechanical way to transfer the hi-hat to be more open or closed by just routating the hi-hat pedal screw on the hi-hat top a quarter turn against open or closed. This will make the hi-hat to react in a smoother way.

There is also a nice way to adjust the samples if you think the especially hi-hat sound cuts too sharp by just adjusting the "hold" parameter on 2box DrumIT Five module.

For more HH tweaking hints....general or especially for the Zourman Hh Kit...have a look in the new manual:

Hi all!

For not confusing e-drummers of the fantastic 2box (and trademark) with the 42Box hi-hat conversion kit, I have therefor created a complete new trademark for my hi-hat conversion kit: Zourman Drums!

At the same time when releasing this new trademark, I am also releasing some mechanical improvements of the kit, a M6 mounting point and all connectors on the same side of the box!

Some another great news is that Jobeky Drums will start to distribute Zourman Drums HH conversion kits in the UK!
