Hi!

I am afraid you are right. Somebody speaks in one sample layer in the TSC Fully Dry kits snare sound. I was just about to report it back to Endre.

Hi!

Take a look at this post. http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php/topic,2338.0.html

A factory reset sometimes needs all files to be downloaded and installed on to the 2box module again.

It very hard to determine what could be your specific problem...and what the previous owner has done with it. So it could be smart to start fresh!

Many thanks for the honestly report, Jman!

I started to think that everybody were on their way to convert to a Mimic. (I will personally not invest unless the editor is released...otherwise it is just a nice VST appliance module)

Good to hear the Drumit Five still is a great device (just as Mimic) and to get this confirmed that it still delivers when comparing!

Deve made a great design once upon a time...we can just keep our thumbs that he will strike the market again!

Hi all!

I did nail the problem with the choke! So I am guessing I have now another offering to launch in the Zourman Drums range of products. :-) The Zourman Drums Roland CY-15R 3 Zone Ride conversion for 2box

Mimic is of course an interesting module and the real benefit is around the 24 bit sound and the added multisound dimensions with adjustable room mics etc - which can be changed on the fly in Mimic.

On 2box this needs to be set when bouncing out the sound from the source into dsdn file format.

The Mimic is a bit closed today, if you want to add more sounds. You can currently only add single shot samples. There has been announced an editor to Mimic for handling multilayer sounds...but it will not include support for the room mics and other dimensions etc. This can only be supported by the factory sounds in Mimic. Hopefully so will Pearl/Slate release more sound packs. In 2box we have the Drumit editor and dsoundtool since many years. Dsoundtool is used in the fantastic SDSE software to export your best VST sounds for 2box.

So the 2box seems to still be a good choice!

Hi!

We will see if this can be solved...it starts to be complex.

This solution will support 3zone rides with the trigger type switch-piezo-switch.

The Jobeky 3way cymbals do consist of switch-piezo-piezo triggers. Should work with 2box directly without any conversion. (But don’t take it for granted...never tested it)

I think the Jman stealth cymbals do use the same type of trigger setup.

Big thanks welshsteve!

I don’t know about genius...but it was fun to try solve it. It is working fine on my cy-15R. I have also tried it on an old cy-12C/R but here it does not perform so good. :-)

I have also problems with the choke. It is working as function but when you release the choke the piezo creates a light bow hit all the time.

So there are still some challenges to solve.

Can you take a photo of the power supply with the specs and publish it here?

Is it 18V AC/AC ?

Thanks!

Will continue to work with this invention!

(At least I need it myself! :-) )

Hi all!

I have for some time been fiddling around to find a solution which makes my Roland CY-15R (3 Zones) to work with my 2box module. (I thought this would be nice to solve the last of the 2box Drumit five secrets)

The goal has been to only use passive electronics in my solution. The trick to make it possible is to damp the bow piezo and leave the bell signal untouched and through this create a higher signal for the bell. A Roland cymbal has the piezo on the bow...and a 2box cymbal have the piezo in the bell.

So a bell hit on 2box cymbal will because of the higher amplitude create a bell sound. On Roland Cy-15R it is the opposite. So a bell hit will never be higher than a bow hit...so there have been some challenges to deal with...

I have still some other challenges (especially with the choke) but I thought about posting a video clip what I have been achiving so far for the 2box forums to see what you all think!

I am guessing Deve asks who 2box are today. [Deve was 2box...long time ago]

You still get amazed....the 2box is great solution even if 8 years have passed. Don't be so quick to judge the upcoming three as a step back. There could be other models coming up which closes the gap to the current five. (What do we know)

Yes, the competition is really hard but still, even the new stuff have challenges. One shot samples...no editor for multilayer sounds, problems with triggering and so on.

In this case I do believe my old 2box just delivers...

If we really want challenge anything...I am guessing a nice PC, sound card, Trigger to midi interface & SD3 is the way to go! [for the moment...]

Bengt at 2box claimed that they also will release the new sounds for the current di5...that was what he said a year ago! :-) but things could have changed. In the new sound packs there was a Tama pack created by Simon Phillips...
