Hi all!

I recently made an update on this legendary snares historical background, have a look. Me and Jouni are very amazed how many who has bought the snare so far....this will definitely open up for more samples for 2box. (You get 10 flavors of the snare for â,¬6...)

This 14×6.5″ Super-Ludwig Deluxe/Inspiration model is produced somewhere between 1924-1930. A couple of signs indicates that this legendary snare was a preproduction unit to a special artist and that it is therefore produced before 1924. The series was called Black Beauty because of the black shell finnish (often with engravings).

Jouni bought the 14×6.5″ snare from the legendary drumshop Pro DrumShop at Vine Street in Hollywood in 2009 for a fortune. According to Pro DrumShop, the snare had been left by the owner to be sold on consignment. The owner who left it was the legendary Drum Doctor, Ross Garfield. Ross is a well-known drum technician and supplier of drum equipment for some of the best-known bands in the world. (He supplied the drums to Metallicas Black Album) We can only speculate where this rare snare was been used when Ross owned it and during the time since 1920s. What we do know is that this snare showed up in Sweden and at Big Jambo Studios!

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: No Hi Hat Calibration Showing

Hi!

You should always use a trs cable between the 2box module and the hh conversion kit. Head, edge and pedal are using all the three connectors.

Are you now able to do a hh calibration with the trs cable attached? Normally it should not damage anything in the module...even if using wrong cables etc.

Hi!

It looks like both the 16” and 18” ATV rides have dual TRS outputs (read 3zones)...and i am guessing it is using switch for edge, piezo for bow an switch for the cup/bell. So it will then emulate a CY-15R.

Ok..can you utilize the three zones directly in 2box five? No you can not. 2 zones will work fine...where you can choose between edge/bow or cup/bow sounds.

To get the three zones working...you need to use the 2box 14” cymbal or use my next invention the 3 Zone conversation module for CY-15R/2box...i am guessing it is time to release it...

DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: 2box external triggers

Hi!

I am using Roland’s RT-10S and RT-10K on a Sonor Safari kit with Remo SilentStroke mesh heads. (With my 2box module)

I think they perform just as good as my built in triggers (triggers on harness) on my stage kit (Sonor Force 2007 with Drum-tec mesh heads)

The rim sensor needs to be raised in sensitivity on the 2box module to make them perfect.

H!

Many thanks for downloading the snare!

The sounds are ready to use, just to place directly on your 2box modules memory - without going through the Drumit Editor. (It is easier to do it directly on your 2box module)

Each sound includes both the head and rim or head and rimshot sound. You get both in dsdn filformat.

I see what you mean...In the Drumit five Editor - it is right that the snare sound request separate dsdn files for head & rim. (This is only for the snare...a bit odd design of the software...if you drag the snare to a Tom instead...you get both directly)

I would just drag the files directly to your 2box module instead.

Have a look in the manual how to install them on your 2box module: https://zourman.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ZD_manual_Ludwig_BB_10.pdf

Included here is all nice info about the snare, the sample, microphones etc...

Thanks!! It is a bargain, if you think about that only the snare was bought for about $4k, the recording equipment it was recorded on costs like $1 million and the about 100 hours spent on recording, editing and pack it for 2box... :-)

Nice video👍👍, all went ok except the hi-hat stand I took didn't fit the 2box hat lol fortunately I had taken my vh-11 and td-12 as a backup so ran the hats out of that but wish I had your conversion box now lol, getting it from jobekey for Xmas I hope

You are welcome!!!

I am guessing the 2box hat has a little smaller clutch whole ...for some reason...

Good luck!

It is fun to play live with 2box...here is a clip from a gig where I play with my tiny A2E converted Sonor Safari kit and with sounds from AD2 [mostly from the metal adpack]...running 6 audio channels to the FOH.

Hi!

Nice to find some feedback on the design!

It would have been fantastic to create a "whole conversion box solution" with all the hi-hat conversions plus 3x Three zone conversions...but as usual - will there really be a market? A lot of work...for a box that probably would sell less than 10 ...I think for the current time - I will launch it as separate boxes.

Allan - Yes, in theory it would work, however, I have tested the solution with a CY-15R...and also CY-12C/R...but the CY-12C/R have very different characteristics and does not actually work very good on my box. So it is the CY-15R which is the focus right now. I will also soon try it with a CY-13R which is more in line and equal to CY-15R.
