So after really comparing the Drumit5 to the Roland TD15KV (because of the similar price range), I've decided to take the leap and go 2Box.

Hi Kris!

I was comparing the same kits and also went for Drumit5. Maybe I felt a little bit more in control with the TD15KV, but with regard to the 2box open system, better audio quality and separate audio outputs there was really not much doubt. Also, the specific settings of the demo kits maybe made that perceived difference.

OK, maybe some new bolts and more Dremel work required then. Thank you for the heads up (!) regarding head replacement problems. I'm concidering a 682 kit for a tighter response, based on forum advice.

I just mounted my brand new Drumit 5 kit and most of it was a breeze. However I spent hours with two of the clamps...

I don't know if the hex rods are of slightly different dimensions, but it was close to impossible to get some rods (the module and one of the toms) to fit in the plastic ball without loosining the wing nut too far, eventually breaking away from the bolt.

That revealed some quality issues IMHO - the bolts are at least 2mm too short and the threads on them are easily destroyed when trying to fit the wing nut, making it yet more difficult to get the bolt and wing nut threads to catch.

Have anyone else experienced this and have any remedy to suggest? Right now the module hex rod is half way into the plastic ball, resulting in a slightly awkward position for the module...

A digital kit is my only option though and after a few months of research I've ordered a Drumit 5 kit with an additional cymbal pad.

...today my kit arrived - brain #5171

Spent an hour setting it up and an additional 3+ hours wrestling with two of the clamps  >:(

Welcome! Can you arrange a company visit for the members of this forum? ;-)

Thank's for the welcome! Company visit, well...  ;)  I'ts quite a small business and I'd guess it would  probably not be much of a factory (to) visit  ::)

Hello!

DIY musician and audio engineer from Sweden here! (Acturally about 20km from the 2box HQ  ;)). After some 25 years with all kinds of compact pad solutions to program DAW drums and percussion I've finally learnt some chops playing the real thing!

A digital kit is my only option though and after a few months of research I've ordered a Drumit 5 kit with an additional cymbal pad. Key decision points were the use of samples (--> audio quality) and the only separate output brain in the price range. And a seemingly strong community :)

I'll use the kit mainly for recording, both direct audio and triggering Superior Drummer. I plan to integrate my good ol'e 1990 vintage ddrum PadStation, triggering additional DAW sounds via MIDI. However, I've retired the Clavia ddrum Kick, to become the start of my modern arts collection  ;D

Looking forward to talk to you!
