In time the goal is to support more VSTs but I can't guarantee that it will work exactly the same as for Superior Drummer 2.
I see that you were in contact with Dylan from analoguedrums, perhaps he would be interested to help make this happen?

To fix this error message, please try the settings from this post, if it still doesn't work please send me an email and we'll figure it out.

Support for Addictive Drums is coming soon, Jman has already tested it and the first results are encouraging.
I added a poll to this topic, let's vote for the next VST to be supported after Addictive Drums!

That's great news Jman, it will make it possible to add full support to Addictive Drums in SDSE :)

If you have a computer with Windows you'll find that it is really easy.

You will need to install Superior Drummer 2, Reaper 4, DSoundTool 1.12 and SDSE.
Make sure to start DSoundTool using settings posted here

Here's how you would export from Superior Drummer 2 to .dsnd once you have everything set up:
- Open Reaper and load the SDSE.rpp project if it's not already loaded (File, Open Project), open DSoundTool, open SDSE.
- Enable the drum instruments you would like to export in Superior Drummer 2
- click "All" in SDSE (or press F1) then wait. When it's finished you will find your new .dsnd in the SDSE folder.

Once you have exported your first .dsnd there are a lot of settings you may be interested in changing to suit your needs, like the destination path of the newly created .dsnd. The included readme contains more details. Please contact me by email if you need more help getting started.

About posting dsnd samples, Toontrack is kind enough to allow personal use of those samples but we're not allowed to distribute them.
Love the 2Box too :)

Lundin: you'll need two 32GB cards to fit all those SDX! :)

roel: I was going to redirect you to this topic from Jman with a video of his first 2Box demos including SD2 kits http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?topic=912.0 but saw that you replied to it last year :) If you were concerned about how they sound when exported using SDSE in particular they sound the same as the .dsnd we used to export manually, it's the same process only faster and easier.

Murgen: You'll need SDSE and Reaper on the same Windows computer but you should be able to save the .wav and .dsnd files directly to the NAS by setting "Path to destination files" to you network drive in SDSE.ini.

Rider, it's true that DSoundTool can produce those errors but otherwise it's a great tool that is very useful to 2Box users. I think the best solution is to support the DSoundTool author by registering it and asking for a fix. The only practical problem most people encounter is probably that it doesn't free memory after creating a .dsnd file.

Here are some tips about DsoundTool memory errors, you may already have tried them but it could be useful to others and maybe it could make it work for you.

The first thing to check is that you have a good version of Java installed.
In doubt uninstall all instances of Java first and install the latest JRE version you can find on oracle.com
(right now it's JRE7u9: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u9-downloads-1859586.html)

To make sure DSoundTool doesn't give an out of memory error the solution that will work for sure is to have plenty of RAM. Ideally your computer should have enough RAM to use Reaper, Superior Drummer 2 and DSoundTool at the same time.

Check the amount of RAM in your computer and try to adjust the value in dsoundtool.bat:

to use up to 2GB of RAM for DSoundTool you need at least 4GB of RAM in your computer
start javaw -Xmx2048M -Xms1024M -jar "dsoundtool.jar"
you can also try to increase this value
start javaw -Xmx2560M -Xms1024M -jar "dsoundtool.jar"

If you have more than 8GB of RAM you could try this to use 5GB for DsoundTool which should be enough to export two full kits in a row.
start javaw -Xmx5120M -Xms1024M -jar "dsoundtool.jar"

If you don't have much RAM and can't use SDSE to export several instruments without experiencing out of memory errors you could proceed like this:
- Use the wav button to export to .wav. When it's done click on "clear" in Superior Drummer 2 (bottom left) to free up memory.
- Use the dsnd button to convert the .wav files we just exported to .dsnd. SDSE will load the instrument names from SD2 but samples don't have to be loaded to do that.
- Make sure to close DSoundTool before exporting a new instrument.
The drawback of this solution is that you would have to reload sounds in Superior Drummer 2 after each export job to export another instrument.

beppedrum, I'll make a video tutorial soon.

Slap, Reaper is a "digital audio workstation" software, here we're just using it to playback VST sounds but you could also use it to record a song with multiple tracks. Love the Orange haze bit comment ;D

RockStarGate, if the tails get cut off try increasing the volume in BFD it should help.
It's normal that SDSE would do that, it doesn't read the list of instruments like it does for SD2. You can try enabling zone manually in Reaper. I'm sorry that I can't be of much help about BFD2 for now.
#503
Yes, to export from Superior Drummer 2 to .dsnd you'll need both Reaper 4 and DSoundTool.
Reaper 4 is required to exporting to .wav and DSoundTool is required to export to .dsnd.
SDSE can be used without Reaper to quickly build dsnd files from any .wav files using DsoundTool if you name your files using the zone names found in the SDSE.ini configuration file. So if you have existing drum instruments in .wav format you would just have to rename the files to import them to .dsnd.
If you export a whole kit from SD2 to .dsnd SDSE will generate a matching .dkit (single kit) so you'll just have to copy the files to your SD card and start playing.
#504
Thanks for your order Murgen, I'll have to look into this but I did receive your order and you should have received the full version in your inbox a few minutes ago.

Edit: the issue with the return page is fixed now
#505
beppedrum, it wouldn't be complicated but would still take time. I'd like to add support for it but I don't have BFD2 so I can't promise anything.

Edit:
SDSE v1.1.1 released
- fix for a special case that could happen when exporting from the Music City SDX
- compatibility with older versions of Reaper 4
You don't need to upgrade from v1.0 if you aren't using Music City or if your Reaper version is greater than 4.25.
If you wish to upgrade to any new version in the future you will simply have to extract the new version over your current installation and overwrite all files, the configuration won't be overwritten.
#506
To export from SD2 to .wav then .dsnd in one click you can use the "All" button. That's what 2Box users will want to use most of the time.
Sometimes you may want to export to .wav and not create dsnd files even if DSoundTool is open so you would use the wav button.
The dsnd button is meant to build to dsnd from existing wav files. To build directly from .wav your files must be named using the zone names you can see in SDSE.ini.

With the evaluation version you can export all the instruments from Avatar except Hats and Cymbals.
With the full version you can export all instruments from most SDX or EZX including Avatar and Metal Foundry. I'll do my best to support more SDX and EZX if someone finds that his favourite library is not fully supported.
#507
Thanks for your comments :)

digitalDrummer: Unfortunately there won't be a Mac version. The good news is that Mac users can still use it by installing it on a Windows virtual machine. It's not as convenient but at least it should work.

SDSE is a software meant for 2Box users and e-drummers.

SDSE stands for Simple Drum Sounds Exporter or Super Drumkits from Sweden.

Background
I got the 2Box DrumIt Five module for the realism of the sounds and the fact that the module is fully open to receive new sounds. Of course the module can also be used to trigger VST sounds but personally the ease of setup and ease of use of the DrumIt Five as a standalone module is something I really enjoy. After many visits to this forum I started following the example set by Jman and others and started adding new .dsnd files. Importing sounds to the DrumIt Five was made easier thanks to the great program that is DSoundTool but all the small steps required to export sounds from a VST sound library (drag and dropping a MIDI item, learning the note for each instrument/articulation, renaming the .dnsd) can amount to a lot of time.

Wouldn't it be great if we had an export feature in Superior Drummer 2 that would convert a preset to a set of .dsnd files with matching .dkit? The goal of SDSE is to perform the same task.
I started working on SDSE this summer as a project for my own use but when it became a one-click solution I thought I would polish it and add features in hope that it makes it easier for fellow drummers to export their kits.

Many thanks to Jman for his feedback and extensive testing!

Purpose
Automatically export drum instruments or whole kits from a drum instrument VST to .wav and optionally to .dsnd and .dkit for the DrumIt Five module.
The process is fully automated for supported VSTs and basic functionality should work with other VSTs as long as they are set to use the same MIDI map.
It can also be used without REAPER or a VST to quickly build .dsnd files from .wav.

Requirements
  • Windows 10 32/64, Windows 8 32/64, 7 32/64, Vista 32/64 or XP SP2/SP3
  • 1GB RAM minimum, 4GB or more recommended to export full kits
  • a screen resolution of 800x600 minimum
  • Vista/7/8: you can use any DPI setting as long as XP scaling is enabled. 96 (100%) and 120 (125%) DPI settings have XP scaling enabled by default
Various features require one or several of the following programs:

Supported VST instruments

Features
  • one-click operation from VST to .wav and .dsnd + .dkit
  • automatically generate a .dkit from the newly converted .dsnd
  • automatically adjusts HiHat zones when building a .dsnd
  • automatically rename the .wav and .dsnd files using the original instrument names (supported VST only)
  • option to shrink filenames using user-defined search/replace
required to be able to build .dkits properly and to identify parts on the small DrumIt Five screen.
  • option to put width first in filenames
14x6.5 instead of 6.5x14, to make it easier to find an instrument when browsing.
  • option to add Library short names as filename suffix or prefix
useful to identify which sounds belong to the same recording room.
  • option to add custom suffix to the files when exporting kit variations
  • option to delete the .wav files on success
  • options to disable exporting Tom Rim, Crash Mute and Hats Bell
  • option to normalize .wav files
  • option to sort the resulting .dsnd files in subfolders
  • prompt to add missing MIDI mappings to Superior Drummer 2 configuration if needed.
you may see this prompt if you use the Avatar or Music City libraries.
  • set background colour
  • play sound when complete
Other Features
  • Edit your kit layout with DKit Manager
Allows you to set different pad layouts, useful for people who split their toms to add more pads or use a custom setup.
Edit your kit layout with DKit Manager.   The current Layout setting from Dkit Manager is used by SDSE to build a .dkit file that matches your own pad layout.
