I think that's a great idea if you want more cymbals. Especially if you can waive the rim sounds of the toms.


E.g. make Tom1/2 to 4 mono Toms ( via split adapter), and Tom 3/4 to 2 new Cymbals.

as far as I understand this is already possible: to split a tom channel via y-adapter and use it for 2 toms (mono) or a tom/ a cymbal (each mono, so no rim/ no 3-zone) or 2 cymbals.

I changed the notes in superior drummer, it´s really easy with the "learn"-function.

I record (in logic) in 1 channel. I don´t know what the use of more than 1 channel could be... (you mean the midi-channel, not the track, right?)

are you running any vst in protool that you wanna trigger with the 2box?

Those contributing on this thread: what do you think of the 2box hardware, pads etc.?  Or do you only use the module with other equipment?

I think the 2box hardware is OK. The rack is very good (MK2-Version!), only thing is the bassdrumpad wich is fixed only on 1 bar (bottomside) and waggles a little, which only bothered me when playing doublebass. Murgen and me fixed that by adding another tube to the rack. (watch this: http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?topic=1527.msg14159#msg14159)

Concerning the pads I always have issues with my snarepad. I play rimshots all the time, and after a while (depends on how often I play) the inner part of the rim breaks. The 2box service here in germany is very good, they send me spare parts for free whenever I need them.
This affects only the snarepad, and presumably only happens due to my hard rim-hitting, and I never heard from anyone else around here with this problem.

The highend Roland hardware is better in my opinion. But Roland was no choice for me because of the prices of those highend-kits and because the 2box definitely sounds better (meaning more natural, accoustic-kit-like). And so far I can live with the minor hardware issues (I only use the 2box at home, not on the road).

Hi guys,
Last night I turned on my beloved module and to my horror after it booted up I could not get it to trigger any sounds. Even pressing the buttons had no effect. So I swapped out the Lexar 32Gb card (which has performed flawlessly for nearly a year) with the original 2box card and everything worked fine.
Breathing a sigh of relief that the module isn't faulty, I put the Lexar into my laptop and was able to see all the files and OS bins as normal.
Any thoughts or similar experiences as to what the problem is.

Did you already solve the problem? Only thing I can think of (cause it happened to me a few months ago): make sure you didn´t turn off the "Local MIDI" option in the module (Unit-->MIDI--> mid button above display must read "ON")

Hi tower of p, the nopanning.s20 file is not part of SDSE actually. To export without panning the best way would be to save projects in SD2 with all pannings set to center and load them before exporting. Another way is to enable the "mono" setting in SDSE.ini, it will convert the sounds to mono before converting to .dsnd and you will then be able to set the panning with the module.

Luckily I kept the Pearl and my Paiste 802 and Giant Beats. And a hihat and snare stand and bass pedal. But songs like Dark Night (Deep Purple), Alive (Pearl Jam) I never played before so I need all my free time to check the breaks and fills.

It´s black night, isn´t it? Cool songs to cover, both of them!

you can download the stock module content. you can listen to the sounds in the folders (.dsnd-files) with vlc player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/). Every dsnd-file is played from highest to lowest velocity when played via vlc.

I think most of the sounds you´re looking for are at hand... but better look for yourself.
