Setup guides and tips / Re: Batter head
August 02, 2016, 09:55:45 PM
I have done this before and you have to adjust the trigger types. If it's a snare you're using a mylar head, you need to set the trigger type to AC1. You'll probably have to adjust the gain and threshold, perhaps mask time too  but it shouldn't be difficult.

As for built in tunes, whatever one is assigned to whatever kit can be played in kit mode with the top right button  of the display. If you want to change it, that can be done in kit edit by pressing the page down in kit edit mode until you come to accomp page.

It's pretty simple.

Select the pad you want to assign a different rim. Hold down "more" while pressing the channel (e.g. Tom 1) then press kit, then page down to view the sound on that pad. If it's a sound which had a rim assigned as part of the sound, then you'll see no number or info displayed, only "tune" and volume. Without doing anything, adjust the file knob to the sound you want, adjust anything else like tune or volume and save. You'll have that sound on the rim plus whatever was on the pad before the adjustment.

Yep, I second that. It's one of nicest most natural snares I've played on the kit. Minimal
In ambient and effect, great transients, got a lovely snap to it, would be ace for live or recording. Great work!!!

Oh yeah, connect midi out of brain to in on interface and vice versa. That should be it! That's what I do anyways without any messing about. You might wanna turn the thru off on cakewalk channel though as you might have notes coming back during recording which is horrible to hear.

Oh that sound interesting. I had a mare on the last tour with trying to get a 15" floor tom to trigger well. I was using mylar heads. Had to dampen them down a lot which was okay but I'll try your method next time out.

Yes I am aware of that, but I think he's using a USB to Midi cable. Midi out of the module to the USB in of the computer. There's no reason why if plugged the other way around, it would play back fine. So I said best get another one of those cable so you don't have to keep unplugging and replugging to record/listen back.

OK so like I said in an earlier thread, my 12" is Kaput and needs repair (pending bits from 2box which are taking ages for them to sort out!!!) So having a spare 12" mesh head, 12" soprano drum and a bunch of trig it triggers, I decided to use all that instead. So after set up, here's what I found were problems.

Mesh head needs to be tightened (so hoop is really low) so much that the trigit mounts but the rim sensor doesn't pick up because it's not touching the hoop.

Loosen it up so it touches, mesh head feels as loose as a fat whore's minge!

Other problems, double triggering. Raise the mask time, no double triggering but forget about rolls and flams.

So, Solutions.

First I cut an old used 12" head off its hoop and placed just the hoop on top of the mesh hoop as a spacer. Then I cut a small piece of towel up to mute the mesh head. Tip for anyone doing this is to assemble it on the floor facing down. Drum hoop first with lug screws in, spacer hoop next, mesh head then cut out piece of towel next laid across the diameter of the mesh head, place the drum on next lining up the lug screws to the lugs enough to keep the towel in place. Place upright and tighten up drum head.

At first you'll notice the drum hoop is a lot higher above the playing surface then normal, because of the spacer. But if the mesh head is as slack as mine, you can tighten right up enough to make it look normal. The mesh head will be super tight, super muted and with the trigit will play perfectly without any mask time needed. I'd include a pic but it's not so easy to do on here.

Any questions, hit me up here!

Not sure about USB to midi from the computer to the module, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You'd need two of them cables so you don't have to keep unplugging and replugging to listen back.

compatible with the ddrum .mid format - I wrote Clavia they don't care or support it, ddrum makes acoustics.

Did you figure out a way to load Ddrum 4 sounds onto the module? If not, there's an easy way if you'd like to know. Personally, it will expand all your sounds but Ddrum sample are no way as rich as the 2box sounds you can download. First up they're all sampled in Mono, side by side, you'll notice a massive difference. Also, the maximum of layers was only 8, you'll notice that playing too I'd think.

Yep, I agree! Either use out 1+2 or turn down the headphone output with the master volume control.
Alternatively, you could plug what you're using for MP3 play back in to the AUX in and do away with the behringer mixer.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Mesh head muffling?
July 17, 2016, 10:32:16 PM
Hello everyone
My 12" 2box pad is in bits (piezos broken) and I am hoping to get new bits from Sweden for it soon. In the meantime I have a 12" Tama soprano snare that I stuck a mesh head on and a trigit trigger thinking it would be easy peasy.... Alas not.
I have tried all trigger types and combinations of gain, threshold and mask time and cannot get a really nice tracking like the 12" pad.
It appears I might have to muffle the head a lot or perhaps get a triple ply head of some kind. Anyone else have an issue. The main issue is double trigging. Raise the mask time enough and it goes, but forget about ghost notes, rolls and flams!
#838
Yes it's possible. You'd need to have a midi out of the sequencer to the in of the module. Audio wise you'd need to mix the module with the computer/seqencer, but I assume you already know this.

Hey,
Did you buy triggers? I have used them except roland and could advise you on choices!

Hey,
I couldn't get the chain in audacity to do what I wanted (split and export) I followed your chain instructions to the letter, however it wouldn't allow me to adjust compression on truncate. However, the settings by default were correct, providing the "50" is the same as "50.00000000000" it truncate but doesnt split or export WAVs.
