Thanks for the reply! I'll look into both. The Roland hihat and Zumman drums option is probably going to be next year when I have some money. I'll probably go with a Pintech Visulite set up as I think they look the poop!
As for the 2box controller I have, it hasn't been used extensively over the last few years as I tend to trigger it from acoustic drums in live situations. And I can recall this happening really early on in my ownership.

We can all agree the weakest link with the drumit 5 is the hihat, that being said it works good enough for me but just wanted to ask if everyone does this.
Hitting the bow should always give zone 4
Hitting the edge should always give zone 8
Pedal should always be Zone 9

But med to hard hits on bow will give Zone 8.
If it was just a thing of the cross talk and the display showing the weaker of the zones, I wouldn't be bothered, but sonically you can tell it's zone 8!

The only way to always get Zone 4 is to play the bell of the hats. I was to understand that the edge (zone 8) is achieved by a switch, like it is on 14" cymbals.

Like I say, it bothers me only a little and I am okay with it. But as some point I will look to perhaps use a different controller (maybe a roland with the 42box, or whatever it's called, gizmo) if it can cleanly give me edge and bow when I actually play them.

Yeah it's true. The module alone will list for £2000, basic studio kit is £4000+ and the full shebang kit is upward of £6000+
I got into a bit of a back and forth debate with someone in a music shop on one of them Youtube vidoes and he claims there IS a market for it, and like anything, you want the best you have to pay for it... sorta thing.
Can't argue with that I suppose. Still it's a kit for the 1% and the top pros who will get it for free.

Took me awhile but I get most of it. Got everything set up as I want and got things saving.
My latest issue is the bass drum pad.
I'm getting a lot of double triggering due to the bounce of the mesh.
Anything I can do to counter this?
I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and gain but to no effect.
What can I do to stop the damn thing wobbling?
Be sure to have the right Kick trig setting, Kick 1 or Kick 2 are for the pad. One of them is for faster playing, like double bass pedals, not sure which but I'll guess it's Kick 1. You shouldn't be getting double triggering unless your threashold is too low and it's seeing the bounce of the beater as a hit. Also check the curve, NORM is the mid setting. That failing, you can adjust the mask time but it might kill off intended hits.

Brilliant advice there! I was planning on sampling my 14" Meinl Soundcaster Dark hats as I love them... I'll take on board your advice and if the results are good, I'll post some links for you to hear!

Then the 2box Trigit ones are probably the best choice! Because they trigger great and can be mounted quick on a gig if an internal one fails.
In terms of tracking, the Ddrum ones work equally well but I have experienced a lot of failures with the Ddrum ones and I have tried ALL of them. The last ones were the chrome elite series, as they boasted a much more sturdier sensor design. But after two weeks (a common time frame for failures for me with external triggers on a tour) they started to fail, I just sent them back as I didn't want to go through it all again and went back to mic'ing!
Even the trigit ones failed on me not long after I got them, same reason, more or less same time frame. After chatting to Bengt in 2box he isolated the issue, it was because the negative cable was soldered on the edge of Piezo sensor. So with head vibration, after a while the negative wire "hinged" and broke at the solder point.
After soldering them back on a little further into the sensor, they seem to be holding up okay. But I am not using them that much though, I am about to go on tour again so let's see!

As far as USB connected pads, I really wonder if it is about improved triggering technology, or simply the latest way to put out a unique trigger that Roland can have a patent on that it can aggressively defend..... LOL

They're also not the first to do this, Mandala drum have done it for many years. And apart from the Octagon shape and rubber playing surface perhaps not being the most favourable thing (though wouldn't bother me personally) to play, seems to do it very very well with fantastic positional sensing technology. We ahead of Roland on that, even the 20 year old Ddrum 3 did that very well.

I am not sure of that's the angle of USB, haven't seen anyone explain why that makes it better than analogue connectivity yet other than saying, "it's better"

This is a huge thread, so I might have missed someone else asking the question (and getting the answer) I am about to.

I have a mac with windows on it as separate boot up, on that it doesn't have any music programs (Cubase, reaper etc) installed.
On the mac partition I have Logic X with Superior Drummer installed with a bunch of libraries.
I also have virtual box on Mac partition.
To use SDSE, I would need install it on the windows side, plus reaper (for example) and the windows plug in of Superior drummer for SDSE to work?

Thanks in advance.

WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF 2BOX OWNERS

We are a friendly bunch, never have I witnessed the angry responses you'd expect (and always seem to get) from making a comment on a Youtube video. Lots of knowledgable folk here, maybe your use of the 2box module be as pleasant as mine (and I'd go as far to say everyone else's here!)

Are you triggering from mesh are mylar heads? If it's mylar, then I think the trigit ones are the best choice. I also had a set of Intrig 2 from triggera, and they worked well too with mylar heads but on larger (13" and above) I needed to dampen the head down a bit as I was getting a lot of double triggering. Raising the Mask time stopped it but killed a lot of the playability too.

SCRATCH THAT!!!

I used a different unarchiver and it worked. 2box is the password.

Oh there's a problem, I can't unzip them. It needs a password. It seems that the password is written in german and is 2box, but that does't unzip them.

OH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Weird how it's not on their website though. But thank you again!!!  :animal: :patbat2box:

Hello folks...
Over the years I have downloaded many new sounds, made many of my own etc and saved the old ones that came with the kit on a hard drive... which has been lost or stolen, I am not sure. For a while I wasn't bothered as I didn't need them and assumed they'd be on the website, alas not.
So does anyone know where I can get them?
Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.
Steve

Mask time is in unit page. Select the channel you're editing (in this case snare I presume) and page down past trig types and mask will appear on its own page. That is if you've got the most unto date version of the OS 1.30 onward.
