DrumIt 5 Hardware / Re: Hi-Hat Closed Sound problem

Are you using the 2box hihat stand? I found that because the rod has ripples (to make the clutch grip better) when the rod moved up and down, the ripples catch on the side and cause triggering. If you swapped the stand and use a normal hihat with smooth rod, you should find it stops. If that's what's causing it that is.

I'd say it's neither as an absoute answer.

But the ability to use Roland and other styles of triggers give it a slight edge as far as I'm concerned. The fact it used DC voltage instead of AC is also a hardly noticed advantage. As a drumit5 user and over the years having 3 power supplies break, trying to find an AC-AC adaptor isn't easy as most electronic stores will not stock something compatible. However, I always found one on eBay which worked. But once in a soundcheck where one failed, I was scared for a while!!!

The two less inputs were never a concern to me as I always have been fine with using 2 only.

So if you find a drumit5 going second hand for a decent price, I'd get it. It will save you a few hundred bucks. If you want a new unit with a gurantee etc, then hold out until it ships.

That's my best advice.

Hey! Sounds great man!
So you played the drums in via Midi and used Superior drummer? In any case, sounds great and I really like the song, nice dynamics, classic Rock n Rock vibe to it!
Nice job!

hmmmm, that's a new one. Do any of the stock songs in the module (if you still have them) do this also?
#605
Go into the UNIT page, scroll down and change the midi note of whatever crash channel you chose. Have you tried this?

On another topic, could you implement functionality fot the Alesis strike pro size limit of 200MB per Kit? I'm considering this since the drumit3 appears to be similarly delayed like the drumit5 was....

No dude!! You gotta wait for the D3.... I am! Of course you do what you chose, I am only joking. But I personally feel sad at every single loss of sale of the D3 because of delays of release especially in these tougher times for the small guy in the face of the giants of the game.

Sounds like to me phase issues. Stereo samples when mono'd up can do that because when they are merged into a mono source you get phase cancellation. I'd check your connections or any adaptors you maybe using on your headphones

I'd contact 2box in Sweden and explain your predicament. I am sure they'll help you out with a circuit diagram.

It wasn't the price of the drumit5 module alone, it was an entire kit (albeit with some wear) but my god, he got a killer of a deal!!!!

Not to piss anyone off, but a mate of mine bought a MK1 kit in MINT condition tonight for £500!!!

If it's not always done this and this poor response is something that has happened recently, then I would say with some surety that you have a broken piezo.

They're cheap to replace and just a small piece of soldering required. Piezos normally come from an electronics place pre wired so it's only to the jack socket you need to solder it.

I have had my 2box cymbals for 5 years and the faults I have experienced are 1. The rubber wearing away at the edge, which doesn't affect the cymbals performance. 2. broken piezo which was a pig to repair. Generally I think they're really robust and reliable. And 3. the piezo coming a little loose causing double triggering when hit at medium velocities.

To combat problem 1, never have the cymbal positioned at too shallow and angle to where you hit it, much like actual cymbals.

Problem 2 is a luck of the draw type of deal.

Problem 3 was fixed with some glue easy peasy!

I have never heard of this happening to anyone else. But I have had similar issues with other equipment (Mixer, amplifier, effects inputs/outputs etc) so it's no unheard of in electronic devices. If it's the same issue as them, I'd guess it's a solder joint on one of the terminals for that input.

I would take it to an electrical engineer who would make a simple re solder of the terminal(s) to the PCB. I wouldn't suggest doing this yourself unless you have experience. I am guessing you do not otherwise you'd have supposed this as the fault already.

Good luck!

Each out of the module is Mono one channel, regardless of whether you use a TRS or TS cable. Only the headphone out is Stereo, and can be split to two mono channels 7/8.

Oh yeah, if you're using the headphone output for outputs 7+8, you'd need a TRS to 2 x mono jacks.

Doesn't have to be TRS because the module's outputs are not balanced so mono jacks for each single output would be all you'd need.
