Did the online upgrade from BFD2 to BFD3. spent 2 days wrestling with the download from the core library and after checking their forums found a work around with a patch for the downloader. that worked. Now I need to check if everything is aboard. I know the presets do not load all instruments but the program works. Just configured a DW kit and kicked SDSE to convert.

That is a good thing. SDSE found BFD3 on my second disc without hesitation. ;D

I think Sean Mitchell (Facebook e-drums page) revealed a well kept design secret from the 2Box makers. The resemblance is remarkable! Colour and dials are similar.

General chit-chat / Band experience
December 03, 2014, 01:45:16 PM
Here is a personal story and I ask you for your experience and opinion on this (thank you for your time):

I started banging on empty cardboard washing-powder drums when I was a little kid. Unfortunately my mother experienced the Rotterdam bombardement in 1940 and cannot cope with loud noises. My drum aspirations were pushed aside and for a long I forgot about them. Tried to play guitar when I was a student but I'm slightly tone-deaf (hard to decide which note is higher or lower in pitch when they are close together). Then a career need to be builded and it was only in 2003 when my wife pushed me behind a Roland e-kit. Summer 2003 I started to take lessons and learned to play the drums. I'm not a John Bonham, far from that. And deep inside I'm glad because if I was, I had chosen the wrong career path and profession.  But I do know I play quite decent, yet technically very basic. I feel time and keep time and I know how to play fills. Less is more. I can read and play from music sheets if they are not to complicated (Black Page, Zappa, is a nogo). I played in walking brassbands for 9 years, rehearsals and gigs, on cymbals, snare or big drum. I know what it is to play on a stage and can cope with the stares of wanna-be and many times better fellow-drummers.

But my band experience behind a drumkit is limited. And I learned the hard way that band-members judge you on that big time. They played a tune a hundred times where they expect me to play it perfectly straight away. And yes, I can in many occasions but need to train/practice for other songs especially up-tempo.

What are my options, personally I think I need to find fellow musicians on the same level but where and how? For now I keep practicing to improve myself but next time it will take a lot of consideration to join a band with more experienced players ... The good thing is, it gives me time to master Pro Logic, I defined a 10-year project to create a concept album. Wanna bet I can. :)

I ordered one to test in my drumcabin. Stay tuned for my report.

Hi all,

My factory snare head lasted more than 2 years but since then I burned the 2box replacement and a 682 head in less then 2 months. I don't think I play any harder and with the same sticks. So, it must be in the tension of the heads. Or my fitness training pays off in a negative way ...

What is better, high tension or medium tension on those heads?

After 52 months of faithful duty the mesh head finally gave up. I had a spare and noticed one broken rubber ring, any update on replacement rings?

I'm not sure if the link has been posted before, I guess it does but just in case:

Just a nice little forum for boys and girls like us with GEN16's or curious about them.

Will start by putting all my post regarding the kick, kick pad fixation and heads in this topic.

My 2Box Drumit 5 MkII celebrated it's 2 year B-day yesterday. Today I was playing and took a picture from both snare head and high tom head. Original heads, played at least 2-3 times per week for 30 - 60 minutes. You see the wear (the mesh is flattened at some parts) but they still do their job.

My kit is permanently setup in a drum cabin without windows (except on the PC) and the little rings are intact.

Quality of 2Box has been discussed by Roland adepts many times, I think that this is a good example of the opposite.

General chit-chat / Low activity for now
February 21, 2014, 10:00:37 PM
Had a heart attack last week. Not nice. Will take some time for recovery. Inactive for new samples, making it to my kit to practise is more important, and my health and family of course.

Gen16 cymbals (AE480 package) with Direct Source Pickups (no bleeding when playing over speakers),
2Box with 32 GB modification and loaded with BFD2 samples via SDSE,
2 extra bars from a MkI rack. Front-bar to fixate Kick-pad, side-bar to host DSP-module and Throne thumper amp,
Roc n Soc (2003) with Pearl Throne Thumper,
Pearl Hardware (my acoustic kit is a Pearl MHX)
A&H FX10 mixer to get everything together, iPad for play-along and recording.
Airco for fresh air and cooling (hooked up to a forced (fan) air outlet on the roof)

Pretty kit in a self-build drum-cabin under the roof of our house.

General 2box Drumit 5 forum / Time for catching up
January 02, 2014, 12:36:35 PM
And in the last two days of my mandatory contractors leave from my IT-job I finally have time to catch up and do some maintenance on the 2Box SD-cards, samples and GEN16 sounds.

I hope to post some more details over the weekend.

DrumIt 5 Hardware / 682drums 14-inch bass-head
November 08, 2013, 03:41:20 PM
I bought and installed this mesh head early February. I'm going to send this photo to 682drums. It looks like the 2Box tennis-ball and the head material have friction and it melted away the fabric. The ball also show some wear and tear.

On the good site: I use my kit quite often.  ;)
